Hello ladies.
My buddies and I just started wakeboarding a few weeks ago. While we have all gotten hooked, and hooked hard, our girlfriends were...umm...less than enthusiastic.
This past Sunday, my g/f Amy and Matt's fiance Lisa finally strapped on a board and gave it a shot. Both of them did amazingly well for first timers. Today, we ordered Amy a neo vest of her own and she's already talking about her own board...my dastardly plan is finally coming together! Muahahahaha!!!
Here they are in all of their glory:

LMAO! Yeah, she wasn't actually TRYING for a surface 180. Before she ever got in the water I told her several times to put the handle on her FRONT hip once she got up.
Once she got up, I was in the boat yelling "Put the handle on your hip!"...so she did. Her rear hip. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com

Awww... that's a real sweet video!
In my ideal world, my boyfriend (if I had one) would ride, and if he didn't, then I'd make sure to teach him. |

You ladies ROCK!!!! That is a cute video! However....is that a hydroslide that you made those girls ride on???? You better be getting them a board!
And just a little advice...me and my girlfriend are close in the same shoe size, so we just went in and bought a board and bindings together to learn on..saved alot of money! And got a much better ride. Just a thought!!! =)
Keep us posted.... |

I'm 6'3", 225 lbs with a size 12 shoe. My g/f is 5'2", 110 lbs and her feet are about half the size of mine.
My board is an '06 CWB Flame 141 w/ Torq Hinge bindings. We're looking at new boards for her. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com

Ok, that makes more sense.
Yeah, that Hydroslide was my first board. It has basically become the beater board now. If Amy decides she wants to keep riding, I'll buy her a new board. Probably nothing too high-end, but something decent with a decent set of bindings. I was looking at the Gator Lexy as a moderately priced "real board". We'll see. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com

Here's video from last Sunday's girls-only seesion. I don't get what all these guys are talking about when they say they can't get their SOs to go wakeboarding or that they aren't interested in new gear. I have the opposite problem - I can't keep up with the demands to go riding every day, somebody has to work!

Thanks for sharing that -- nice to see the beginners out there too! It is funny watching newbies pulling off butter slides and surface spins on their first runs!
My wife has ridden a total of 4 times this year |

Very cool. But please get them into boardshorts--the enemas and worse are not fun!

Redmond, WA, USA. Home of Ronix, Hyperlite, and O'Brien, but the club sports Liquid Force because they helped organize. |

It didn't look like Amy pulled the handle around to the wrong hip, she just shifted her hips.....haha, nice almost 180 though. Cool video. _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

Hey guys,
Sorry I haven't checked back on this thread in a while. Here's the update. I bought my g/f a Hyperlite Juvi 131 with a set of LF Exo Suc bindings. She rode it on two different outings and both times complained that the bindings were killing her feet.
I was ready to try and find another set of bindings for her but...
I have an old LF wakeboard on the boat. It doesn't have bindings on it, but has foam padding glued to the top. Its basically a makeshift wakeskate. Amy rode it several times and really loved it. She's not into big air or anything and isn't likely to be anytime soon. She has however gotten enthusiastic about riding a wakeskate.
So...I sold her board and bindings on Ebay and ordered her a Liquid Force Melissa 41 skate. It should be here tomorrow.
Hey, as long as it keeps her stoked about getting pulled around the creek, I'm happy. |
