Hey new to this forum and looking for some tips. I normally get pulled by a 19' I/O with no tower and no ballast till we get the chicks in there. It's not perfect, but it's a lot better than my alluminum outboard. Yesterday we were pretty weighted and a buddy borrowed us his 350 lb fat sac. Pretty nice pop, but i perfer getting the opposite sex in there.
This year has been pretty much a re-learning for me after watching video tapes and realizing how poor and incomplete my riding was. I've gone back to trying to get more comfortable switch and starting to get more aggressive with my toeside jumps... however yet to throw a trick toeside.
Sorry about the long post, but my question is what should I be able to do behind the boat considering I am pretty limited with no tower. i hate to blame the tower, but i've gotten pulled by a 2005 centurion with a tower and ballast, and frankly it's not even fair how easy tricks are without so much line tension. I went from not landing a 360 to landing back to back ones behind that monster of a boat (in my opinion).
I am getting more consistant with my 180s and starting to try and grab them so i don't waive that trailing hand out there and look retarded. My w2w heelside is consistant enough I'll throw a decent amount of grabs. And then there is the 360... I've landed about half a dozen this season (shooting at about 15% for the season) and i can't help but get aggrevated with myself and the rope because the tension is just incredible (i've got a exploded blood blister on my hand i take the handle pass with about the size of a dime to prove how hard it is hold on). I'm slowly getting better with throwing it after i've gotten my "pop" and using two hands while basically focusing all my attention on the handle pass because the rotation is pretty damn easy. Some days i have it, some i don't.
Can i think inverts yet or not? I have no tramp so my only practice is doing a backflip off the bow of the boat. I'm determined to land a invert after watching my pre-pop dvd with the retro comp where a few of them land backrolls behind a mastercraft without a tower. And i'm only 21 so i'm still stupid enough to try anything once my mind is set and feel like impressing the women even though i re-exploded my knee this year and due for surgery once school gets closer.
Again sorry about the long first post, but i know there are others out there not fortunate enough to be pulled by a boat with a tower. Thanks in advance for the help. |

Dip_Krew, They make good ballast but eat all your food!
MNBoarder69, You should be able to do most of the same tricks you can do behind a boat with a tower. It increases your hang time just a little to get more in there. I've seen 5's pulled behind a boat without a tower and have seen lots of backrolls and tantrums. The only thing i can't really see anyone doing is a raley or anything raley based. _________________

| i have the same problem except my boat cannot get ballast or a wadge and have yet to get a tower. the wake behind my boat is small and one of my friends has the new amlibu wakesetter. behind my boat i can still do back rolls tantrums and can sometimes land 360s. but when i get behind my friends boat everything just comes that much easier, for instance when i do myback rolls i land 5 or 6 feet off the wake in the flats. i think that you should be able to do everything that you can do behind a bad boat as a good one. and yes you should defiently go for inverts, if you are good enough you should be able to pop and do inverts behind almost any boat |

Same problem here too...my buddies got a tower on his boat and things come real easy to me then...but when i get out behind our boat w/o a tower it just feels like i cant do much of anything....i still try and do about 50% of what i do behind my friends boat...but it still feels like not haveing a tower makes a big difference...im sure it doeen't really...just feels that way... _________________ 2006 Liquid Force Fish 125 w/ Hyperlite 3DS boots |
