Ok, to start out this is neither a complaint nor a rant just an oservation and a question.

A month or so ago I tore the inserts out of my '05 Roam. I took it back to the shop I bought it from and they sent it back to HL. Got a call that my replacement was in so I went to pick it up and they replaced it with another '05. Before the flaming starts I am fine and although I was under the impression it would probably be replaced with an '06. (I sent in an '05 ang got another '05 I have no problem with that).
After hearing all of the horror stories about the time it takes to get a replacement Roam I am now think my local shop might have screwed me out of an '06. I think they might have had an '05 in the shop and instead of trying to clear that one out they got the '06 replacement and gave me the '05 ('06 would be easier to sell).
Question is is HL still replacing with '05's or did I get screwed?

Brought in a broke '05 and got a new '05...how could that not be fair????? Yeah it would have been nice to get the '06 but you certainly are not entitled to an upgrade. Who cares what the lcoal shop did - you got what was coming to you.

bmartin, Did you even read the post??? "(I sent in an '05 ang got another '05 I have no problem with that)." No where did I claim that it wasn't fair or that I was entitled. I was simply asking a question. I wanted to know whether HL sent an '05 again totally cool, or if my local shop might have switched inventory. My big issue is if the shop switched inventory then why did I have to wait almost 7 weeks to get the board they had in stock. I could give a rats a$$ if I got an 05 I just don't like the shop making me wait so they can see if they are going to be able to capatilize on my misfortune with a product I bought from them in the first damned place.

You are correct, I did not mention my frustration came from waiting 7 weeks for a board they had in stock, my bad. Before I came to that assesment I wanted to confirm HL's replacement policy. If HL is sending current year models then I got screwed because my local made me wait 7 weeks to give me a board they had on their floor. If however HL is in fact still shipping 05's as replacements then I have no issue with my local. I in no way am disappointed that I got an '05 as a replacment.

And again for clarification If the shop waited for the replacement board to arrive to give me 05 they had in stock and made me wait 7 weeks so they could keep the up grade then I definitely got screwed, not so much out of an 06 but out of 7 weeks of riding.

I agree I would be mad if my shop was trying to "screw me", but I dont think I would deal with someone I cant trust. My local shop is honest I feel like and I dont think they would try this.
Just my $.02 for what it is worth

Ethan31, Ripped the insert out on the front foot trying a switch ollie to tail press. I am not to sure if that is even a trick but I was switch did a frontside ollie 180 and tryied to land in a tail press. It didn't rip out completely there I just thought the binding got loose so I kept riding and the next time I ollied my front foot came right off the board. I love the Board but I do with the inserts were a little more well thought out.
wakehopper, Unfortunately for me they next closest shop is 45 minutes away in another country...So I was kind of stuck. Like I said if HL is still shipping 05's then I have no issue with the shop. However from what I am continually hearing they are not and have not been for quite some time.

panhead, That sounds like a shop problem to me. If HL had a surplus of 05's in the warehouse, I wouldn't see a reason for them to send you an 06. Ask your shop about your RA #, and give HL a call and confirm. You know you can warrenty stuff privately?

panhead, Now I see why you might have a beef with the shop waiting 7 weeks but unless you have some inside sources, it will not be possible to know what HL sent them to replace your board. I have worked directly with HL in the past and got 'last years' replacements sent to me so it is quite possible they sent the shop an '05 and it did take 7 weeks to get there.

Sounds like you may want to get an extra board as a backup - These roams sound like they have some durability issues.

Laugh Damon, I didn't know you could warranty privately, I will have to do this from now on. Where can I get this contact information you speak of?
bmartin, I actually never expected to get the 06 (would have been nice) as a replacement, except, I kept hearing horror stories of HL not even being able to fill 06 orders and replacements taking forever on the Roam. I am all for supporting my local shop even though the prices are a little higher and there is sales tax. I just expect high quality service from them as well. Basically that was the premise for this topic. I was not too sure if HL was replacing Roams with 05's or 06's and I know there are alot of people who have had issue so I was hoping to get some insight as to the situation. If they are sending '05s still then all is good with the shop if not then its online stores and the Canadian shop for me.
There are definite design and durability issues on the Roam. I don't understand how they can use the plug style inserts instead of a plate. I am about to order another Roam 144 so I can hopefully have a good one to ride as a back up. I know its a weak board but it is so much fun to ride.

Now for a question: Has anyone returned a 05 144 Roam directly to HL and if so what model did HL send you back? (I mean return in 06)

bmartin, He was asking if he got screwed. Because alot of time when people brake old boards the company send them the newer version of the same board.

Just call hyperlite, get a hold of the warranty dudes, tell em the shops around you are full of dumbasses, and they will give you an RA #. Then you find a way to ship the item to them, and wait.

Does it really matter? All you can do is not visit the shop again if you feel like you got screwed. What are you going to do about it? Take the '05 back in and demand an '06? Yeah, like thats going to happen...

1. Was there really a reason to post several times in a row?
2. I call B.S. on this statement.
