Sure, leave 'em on. Unless you have the worst board ever made, they're not going anywhere.

Butterslide is easiest, IMO, approaching the wake on your toeside edge. At the top of the wake, you cut back heelside just until the board is perpendicular to the wake. Then, do your balancing act to keep it there as long as you dare.

You can butterslide from the other side as well. Though it's more of a backwards affair. Kind of. You sort of turn your back to the boat when you reach the top of the wake and slide. If that makes any sense.

Any wake should do. You just need to get the ends of the board up out of the water a bit so the board will release. Doing it on the wake just makes it easier. You can slide off the wake too. Just watch your edges! On the wake is more fun and looks way cooler though.

in my opinion, learn doing a frontside butterslide in the flats before doing it on the wake, its easier to get the rotation aspect of it down in the flats b/c you do'nt have to worry about sliding down the wake,

or just do them in the middle of the wake beign pulled at about 12 mph, thats how i got my backside butterslides down.

also my 8 year old fins did rip off, but they needed replacing anyways.

Im fairly new at wakeboarding but i have learned in the past couple of months how to butterslide pretty good. I hope im not giving any wrong advice, but to begin with make sure u are on some really smooth water. i showed my cousin how to butterslide some directly behind the boat, but not going into a complete butterslide all at one time. just kinda carving the board getting use to what it feels like riding it on its edge. hope this may have helped

I love the butterslide/lipslide any kind of slide...You can do it with your fins on or off... if you are just learning try it with your fins off it will make it alot easier to get the board around. While you are out there with no fins work on carving the board on your edges (it will help you with your edging). When learning any slide try slowing the boat down ("falling doesn't hurt as much at slower speeds" Kyle Schmidt - The Book). If you are just learning to slide get behind the boat get sideways and lean from side to side going from one wake to another. This will also help you learn how to balance sideways for when you do get on the wake for a lipslide.
One final thought when you are sideways watch (I don't mean look down at it) your edge frontside keep your weight on your heels and backside keep it on your toes. Nothing worse than catching a toeside edge on a frontside slide of any kind (catch the edge face goes slap!)
Hanve fun.

When your doing butterslides, i just sort of shift my wait to the front to allow my back foot to slide around. Make sure your leaning back a bit

I've tried butterslides with fins on and apparently my faceplants are just as entertaining as my fashion airs Cool The fins are like an inch deep so it's probably not a good idea with those. I normally ride the moulded fins though.

Keep the fins on they wont go no were.

When u butterslide maybe slow the boat down a little and just lean back so your fins dont catch and then just slide you board into place. When you get it down try to get the boat to speed up.

good luck

Working on butterslides at the moment too. What Panhead said is right on about being on your heels.

I had a very entertaining faceplant this morning. Knocked myself pretty good. These tips will help for when I go out tonight after work.
