Bust the hell out of my front knee when I fell?

I have landed them before, but I took a normal, hard progressive edge, squared up and hit the wake, but ended up spinning extremely fast and pretty low and slammed my feet into the water on the other side before my body was over the board.

I've had my knee in a splint for the last few days, but does any one have any ideas on what I may have done wrong? I REALLY don't want to do that again.

Thanks for the input.

Sounds like a freak accident. I wouldn't worry about it. I would also try the tricks again as soon as you are physically able to, so you don't get a mental block.

Thanks for the advice, I plan on trying one Friday.

I think I MAY have let the handle go in the air for some reason and lost my spin at the last second perhaps. It would explain why I spun so fast but didnt make it all the way around (once I let it go).

You're supposed to let go with your back hand on a tantrum. The handle doesn't aid your rotation at all, so it shouldn't have affected anything if you let go.

Right, I do know to let go with my back hand -- I've been fairly consistent with landing Tantrums in the past.

I mean the handle might have slipped out of my front hand. I thought that, like a backroll, the rotation depends on the handle, but I may be mistaken.

You do rely on the handle (a little bit) on a tantrum. It just isn't one of the key points. But, for example, of you took off from a tantrum, and let go right after take off (with both hands), you would crash out of control. So that right there shows you that you do rely on the handle for leverage (even if it is just a little bit).
