Alright, last night I did it, no not what you think, I still can't land W2W TS. However I am now consitently stomping TS W2W 180's. Which is nice but I would love to land a simple TS W2W. I have tried everything i can think of. I have good edge, good pop (Actually better pop TS then HS) but I keep untwisting as soon as I get in the air. (which is what lead to the TS FS 180 accidentally at first now intentionally) I have tried letting go with my back hand as soon as I take off and become really unstable when I land. I find that if I go for a straight TS W2W I land with my board parallel to the boat and generally slide out on my a$$....Has anyone else had this problem or learned a W2W 180 before a straight W2W?
It is nice though that I can throw the 180 I am actually thinking about throwing a grab in soon, that is how smooth it is getting. So I could be landing grabbed TS FS 180s before a Straight TS W2W or a HS Grabbed anything...
Am I messed up or what? |

By the time you hit the wake, the handle should be pinned to your front hip. Keep it there and land with some of your weight over your toes. Take one hand off the handle if you need to but don't do it until your just about to land. TS W2W is probably one of the most awkward things in wakeboarding so don't feel bad.

Practice inside-out TS wake jumps everytime you cut out to your toeside. This will help you get really comfortable landing on your toes and give you a feel for how to stay twisted in the air. Edge hard from the middle of wake and try to get some air and distance on the inside out jump...don't do it half ass. Once your comfortable landing on your toes you'll be much more confident with your TS wake jump and will charge the wake harder.
Practicing the inside-out jump is was got me over the hump on the TS W2W.
Oh, and remember...PROGRESSIVE EDGE!!!! You know how you try to explain progressive edge for HS jumps to beginners and they just won't do it??? You're probably not edging progressively TS if you can't clear the wake...really think about taking a nice progressive edge TS when you attack the wake. |

hey
I had practically the same problem with TS W2W; keeping handle to hip helped, letting go of back hand at peak of jump also helped, thinking about staying twisted when i landed also helped.
But what really nailed it for me was looking out at shore when landing. You may want to try it if you're not doing so already.

Looking at the shore will help alot.
You really need to focus on landing on your toes as well. If the board keeps sliding out from under you when you land, you are probably landing on your heels. |

Thanks for all of the input, Here's the thing though. I have a good edge into the wake and great pop off the wake. I keep the handle pinned to my hip when I take off and if I take a small cut I can do a one wake TS jump. The problem comes in when I cut out further for W2W if I do not throw in a 180 and land Switch HS then I seem to slide out. I can take a TS 180 out into the flats (not far, maybe 3') but cannot land TS.
I think bobmurph, might be onto something, since I can do outside in and W2W 180 TS but cannot land outside the wake TS then I should simply work on the landing from inside out as this is what a TS landing is like. This is the same process I used to learn HS W2W (Outside in -Inside out - then link the 2 for a W2W). Could be a mental block, I have crashed enough trying to land outside TS that I just expect it now.
Let me know if this makes sense to anyone, as you start crossing the wake in a TS W2W the line tension tries to untwist more the further along you go, basically the if you keep the same edge and line through the jump then the handle will have to move further behind you because your back is facing the boat more than when you took off? Does that make any sense. I think tonight I will just do TS inside outs for a set and drill the feeling of landing TS outside of the wake into my brain.
Strange thing is I feel more comfortable taking off TS than I do HS. I feel like my edge TS is more progressive and smoother than HS.
Thanks agin for all of the help. I will let you know how it goes. |

| When you land, try to lean away from the boat and over your toes a bit. Try to keep edging as soon as you land. It will keep you from sliding out, trust me. |

| jpminter, Thanks, I will be trying this tonight for sure. My problem seems to occur when I am in the air and their is nothing to lean on. I guess I should be thinking about driving a TS edge out away from the boat before I land. THis way even if I do land a little flat and pointing more towards the boat than towards shore I can correct by immediately making a TS cut away. |

| panhead I am having the excact same problem and it sucks. I cant land the TS W2W. Everytime I try something goes wrong either I come off my edge or break at the waist or case the other wake and let go. I also have gotten to the point when I try I pretty much expect to mess up. Let me know if you figure it out man |
