|
|
I'm having the hardest time nailing this most simple of stunts.
I can do HS W2W, a 1 wake FS 180, Surface 180's...consistently.
I don't know what goes wrong on my Ollie 180's. I stomp and about 75% I get nothing out of it and eat it. Not a painful fall by any means, other than my pride.
I'm 6'5" 230lbs, ride a 133 Fish with fins.
Any tips are appreciated. _________________ WakeSurf and Wakesurfing News |

The board sounds really small for your size Oo. Im 6'1" 154lbs and riding a 139 with 2fins, and im getting a really nice pop when im doing ollies, so throwing in a 180 aint a problem.
I kind of think that if the board is to small, you wont be pushed up by the water when you stomp down your back foot. you will just slowly plan out again.. i somewhat picture that.. Anyways, try a larger board, its worth a shot!
Edit: You might also wanna help the board to get air by pulling your front leg up right after you pushed down the back foot.. GL! _________________ Hi you \o/ |

The Fish is supposed to be riden 10cm shorter than a normal board. So it should equal a 143. But, the very next year it looks like they added an even bigger Fish, a 137 I think. Maybe that is my problem
I think I am just sucking at Ollies in general. |

| Rhawn, I learned mine switch first. That's something to consider since the landing is a lot easier. |

What technique are you using? The way I do 'em is to ollie, then as im coming to the peak of the jump, rotate, then when I land i'm already all the way round. I find this makes it a lot smoother. I used to just ollie and rotate all at once, and was pretty inconsistent. _________________ Myspace

Complete lack of technique, other than letting go of the handle with my back hand.
If I get the air, the spin is no problem. The problem I'm having is getting no air on most of my ollies, well not enough to pull a simple 180. I will try pulling up with my front foot more after I stomp the back foot like Andro suggested. _________________ WakeSurf and Wakesurfing News |

| Keep practicing and thinking about your technique. My ollies used to suck but i just kept at it and kept focusing on the pop. Focus on the ollie before the spin. |

| make sure you pop your ollies off your back foot instead of trying to pull the board off the water with both feet... anyway pop the ollie on your back foot and as you level the board out swing your hips into the 180- and hold the rope with one hand on landing- ---and remember to RELAX when landing switch! |
