so i was demo'in a board today (s. bonifay) and some people were cheering me on from the dock. stupid being gives into peer pressure and i tried to go big my first trick rather then feeling the board out.
heres a pic of an attempted 360. u can see the terrable forum and i dont have pics of the landing but it was brutal, facial smash and almost knocked my out cold i was seeing stars.
right from the get go i had a bad line, terrable edging but i just gave er'
i payed the price:( lesson learned

| What you're supposed to do is wait until you see a boatload of chicks and then crash on purpose right in front of them so you can hit on them as they pass by. Preferably crash trying a superman when attempting this.

yeah dip, you might wanna try spinning the other way for your first 360
btw it's called the SHANE board not the s. bonifay or the bonifay, if it was called the bonifay there could be confusion with the PARKS! (aka p. bonifay)

really? for some reason, i find them much much easier then frontside. 90% of the time i always get the spin in. and land, just not without the handle.
ive landed about 3, 360's backside in the last 2 weeks of really pushing them. still very inconsistant with the handle pass.
for some reason, front side i can barely make a 180 i must be doing something wrong.

the reason you are inconsistant with the handle pass is because the backside 180 rotation is tough to pull on the handle to get into the right position to pass it.. just watch a video of yourself, and compare it to a pro video and you will notice your problems

my problem is when i spin, soon as i hit the backside at the 180 mark the boat pulls the rope away from my body and when i come back with my other hand to grab it, the handle is like a 1' away from my backside and miss the pass.

| The hard part of the trick IS the handle pass. I'll bet $50 you're spinning off the wake on the fs 3's and just grabbing for the handle. Pop, pull, pass.

Dip_Krew, I suspect you will land a FS 3 first if you ever try one...
BS 180's before bS 3s my friend....
FS 3's before BS 3's for most people as well.
Looks like you took a good beating, nothing wrong with that....

when i started doing fs 3's i would always look behind me when starting the second 180, and since my head wasn't spinning anymore neither was my body. I got it from snowboardin from doing slow bs 180's, i always look behind me to add some steez onto it

Well it's nice to see someone with stones atleast going for tricks they know they probably won't land. I'm sick of this "i finally did a W2W after 3 years of riding" bullcrap. Keep going you'll progress real fast with the right attitude.

Actually Dip-Krew I have always found BS spins easier then FS. For me this comes from snowboarding, it just feels more natural.
I learned a BS 180 before a FS and a BS 3 before a FS.
I found for me, with the handle pass it's all in the way you edge. I only edge moderatly rather then hard. Less line tension makes for easier handle passes. Also pop then spin. Good Luck.

there could be my situation as well, ive been snowboard since i was 9 and im now 21. it just feels much more natural to spin backside.
ive already got a BS180 and a FS180 down from the HS. so my next step is to continue the rotation to a full 360.
my toe side... meh i can clear the wake and do some grabs, and on the ocassion land a bs 180 but its pretty weak.
ide really like to try an invert this weekend but everytime i go to edge in i just cant put the steps into my head to get a tantrum started. (i can land a backflip off anything stationary so i figure it will be the easiest invert for me)

Could be both, do you land wrapped? I'm guessing it's a FS

| that's fs. frontside mean that your front faces the boat first. backside means that your back faces the boat first

| I doubt it. He can do HS BS 180, HS FS 180, TS BS 180 but can't land a HS FS 360?? Yeah, right.

When you jump and start to spin...not approaching the boat.

and there are many people on here who can land a tantrum of a backroll and cant even do a w2k toe side..
whats your point. not everyone is the same.
on my toeside i come at the boat with my back to the boat (right foot forward) then when i land the 180 in facing the boat with my left foward
i guess it sounds fs to me but there is no need for a handle pass

| Dip_Krew, being able to do a backroll/tantrum and not do a w2w toeside jump is completely different from landing a hs or fs bs180 and not being able to land a hsfs 3 or frontside 180 for that matter. the level of difficulty for bs 180's is waaaay above any frontside 180

Thank you.
Dip_Krew, usually if someone can do a BS 180 (backside 180, handlepass 180, in case you still don't know what that is, even though I've explained it to you before), they don't have any problem learning how to do a 360. The handle pass is what makes the 360 difficult.

Your back facing the boat when you hit the wake has nothing to do with it being "backside". Backside or frontside is simply the direction of the spin (clockwise or counterclockwise).
You ride goofy (if I remember correctly), so if you're riding in your regular stance (not switch), then a backside spin would be counter-clockwise. A frontside spin would be clockwise for you regardless of whether or not it is toeside or heelside. Heelside or toeside describes your approach to the wake.
