Most of the bad injuries come from trying to do advanced tricks that require huge air.

and going insane speeds

in most cases it doesnt hurt at all to fall, but a face plant will knock the breath out of you pretty good, but thats only happened to me twice so far, and if you dont fall but rather stop for exhaustion.... as long as you do it right you'll just glide down... its sorta fun actually to do that haha

If you have time and can sense that you're going down...try to crash towards the front of your board (kinda' like surfing when you dive in instead of letting the wave decide which way your body gets tumbled). I think I read about that technique in a wakeboarding mag a bit ago. This doesn't always work for everyone and sometimes you don't have a choice which way you go down but it works for me. Another thing about crashing...try to relax your body when you know you're going to impact so the muscles are not tensed up. This helps too. Oh yeah, and be sure to stretch before you go ride.

I guess that's true in a sense... except there's water below you here... as opposed to most likely concrete with skateboarding etc.

ozwest, in wakeboarding mag a few months ago they tell you all kinds of tips. "Learn how to do everything this summer." One of them was to fall out the front of your board.

I'm a snowboarder and can sure as heck say I'd rather biff it on water than ice any day. Probably 19 or 20 mph is all you need for starting out on a wakeboard

Oh definately, one bad hit on the ice will leave a huge bruise and make you take a few extra seconds to take a seat. Two straight days of wakeboarding with lots o falls and i have just a slight bit of pain in my butt.

The worst thing that happened to me was out wakeboarding with a crappy dryrotted roap...It broke and the handle came back and broke my nose!

my worst injury was a cracked rib. i think my shoulder "popped" in and out one time too (based on experience with my shoulder). i get routine whip-lash from falling trying bigger tricks than i am ready to pull off. if you are a novice and not used to using some of the muscles involved in wakeboarding - you will be very sore the first few times, then your body gets used to it.

i'm somewhere in between the beginner and intermediate stages and i go about 22 mph. the beginners i teach how to get up i pull at 18 to 20 tops.

Hi guys,
I've just started wakeboarding (did a lesson in Orlando when I was out on holiday and ended up bringing home a new LF) but was out on Wed night a fell a lot in very choppy water and I can tell u I had a very sore neck and back yesterday!
Think its bruised!
Can't wait to get back out tonight though!
