Hi, I'm a regular snowboarder and im new at wakeboarding. Can anybody tell me what are the benefits and downfalls to being pulled by a jet ski as opposed to a boat? I've tried it both ways and I can't tell the difference... of course I'm new.

And then, I am looking into buying myself a wakeboard. I'm a 17 year old female, weight is about 137, height about 5'4" I can get up and carve fine and I want to start jumping wakes next time I go out. Right now I'm looking at a Mary Jane Gator Board on E bay. Is this a good board for me? How much should I pay? THX for any comments!

The starts are somewhat the same, but eventually when you start jumping, you will notice a diference since Jet-skis product little to no wake at all. I would look into buying a 130-134 cm length board (unless you want the LF fish). I cannot speak on behalf of the Mary Jane board, but Gator makes great boards, and I doubt you will be unhappy with any of their products. I also cannot reccomend a price on how much you should spend. I would highly reccomend also checking out the Ladies Lounge part of this site, the females in there are extremely helpful and much more knowledgable about women's equipment than us males (unless one of us males happens to work at a store or something).

well heres this...im 17 and a male also and a noobie boarding but an expert at snowboarding....i got pulled by a waverunner and a boat also...if i were u, i would use the boat to start clearing the wake bc on a sea doo u wont get high enough and u just wont be riding behind a sea doo all the time when u get good. But the sea doo helped me out with stuff besides clearing the wake...like switch, surface spins, and carving around w the little wake. Hope this helped

boardsprevail, Get a wakeskate for the PWC, you don't need to go all out, just get a cheap one until you get the hang of it/decide if you like it or not. I don't know much about Gator boards other then they are just as quality boards as the rest. Also, don't feel like you need to buy a womens specific board, the shape is the same as the mens boards, its just the graphics, and the length(sometimes). I'd suggest a 132-137 for you actually.

Wake skates do not have bindings. PWC=Personal Water Craft. There are standups (some call them jetskis) and sitdowns (some call them waverunners).

Not a problem, but the jetski and waverunner difference is only said and used by a few, so you would probably be better off saying stand-up or sit-down.

Bad info

Jet Ski is a model copyrighted and created by Kawasaki for their brand of personal watercraft. It covers both stand up and sitdown models with one, two and three person brands.

Waverunner is another similar term copyrighted by Yamaha to describe their brand of personal watercrafts.

All other makes/models just refer to their boats as personal watercrafts. Hope this helps.

P.S. Learn to wakeboard before you learn to wakeskate. It will help out alot!!!

I know why they are called that, seeing as how I have had 3 of them. If you could read, you would have noticed that I said,

"There are standups (some call them jetskis) and sitdowns (some call them waverunners)."

Good reading, you fukin moron.

I do, I just don't take kindly to people acting like hot shots on the internet forum calling people out for something that they didn't do because they failed to comprehend a post.

Probably, I have been a bit angry lately since my boat broke, I was angry because he called my posts so useless tha tnoone should read them, which I feel is a bit of a broad statement. He also called me out in another thread and said that I am so stupid I should not be allowed to post on the forum. Not a big deal, but he has no proof to back it up. I f I said something moronic, or something like that I would take it, but it was completely uncalled for. Another reason for my grouchyness is that it is now 5:00, and I have not had breakfeast, lunch, or dinner. I have only had 3 cookies to eat the whole day, and the empty stomach anger has caught up with me. Good thing pizza is on it's way.
