|
|
I did several searches looking for info on the Monster “Double Barrel” speakers but never found anything. I was in need of some new speakers and didn’t have the budget for NVS. Sooooooo since I’ve had an excellent experience with my Monster board racks, Monster mirror mount and Monster mirror adapter for the CIPA Extreme, I decided to give the “Double Barrel” Kicker speakers in chrome a try. Here’s my report after the first day on the water. AWESOME!!! Last year I had a set of Fusion T-series combo’s powered by 250 watts per side, nice sounding but ya really couldn’t hear them when riding. I have the same amp driving the Monster speakers and the crew’s opinion was unanimous, louder and clearer tunes! As for me, I also appreciate the quick disconnect, the easy clean chrome, and with the Monsters being at least half the weight of the Fusions there is way less mass shacking my tower around. Yes, the Monster speakers are not in the same class as NVS but I’d say they’re a good alternative for those on a budget. Just to be clear I don’t work for Monster nor am I associated with them in anyway, I’m just a happy customer. Thanks Monster!!

Very nice set up. If you don't mind me asking, how much were the speakers?
I also noticed you fly. Who for? I currently fly for Skywest, I'll actually be on a PHX overnight on wednesday.
Thanks for the report, I'm also looking to put some "inexpensive", yet quality speakers on my Sanger. |

I work for America West... er...a ... I mean the new U.S. Airways. After 22 years saying America West it's gonna take me a while to start saying U.S.Air Anyway, I spent 18 years in the 737 and the last 4 in the Airbus, can't say that I'm a big fan of the Bus, but the schedules are much better.

I don't know anyone with the New US Air, I was curious how the transition is going. I was flying in and out of PHX the last couple of days, and I was looking at some of the lakes in the area. Seems like a lot of town for not too many lakes. Hopefully you have a unknown spot.
I like the picture. I hope to get out of the regional flying soon. It's amazing the way the industry is today, but can't imagine working for a living. JK. |

Ah yes the transition, well, so far not much change. The big issue will be the seniority list of course and that's going to the arbitrator the first part of next year so we'll see. Bottom line is we(America West) BOUGHT them(U.S. Air) period, end of the story. There was no merger or any thing similar. US Air was a dead airline very close to parking the airplanes until we bought them. Our CEO has already said it was a mistake to keep the US Air name, but it’s way to late to go back now, we already have about 20% of the airplanes in the new paint. Oops, I guess this is pretty much off topic, sorry.
As far as the lakes around here, I’m about 45 minutes from Saguaro Lake(out the driveway to being in the water). One of the nice parts of this job is the time off, it allows us to go on weekdays when very few if any other boats are there. On the water by 0700, loading up by 1200, good water and we beat the crowd and the 110 temps.
Here's a typical morning, the picture taken last Friday about 0700.

Your set up looks great. I am also a very happy Monster Tower customer. Nice picture of you in the baby bus. I start my transition from the Boeing in Oct. Any tips? As for your seniority arbitration from a guy who just went through it and still isn't finished after 5 years ( when we bought Canadian) just get on Tige, turn up those big speakers and use it as a way of not thinking about it. |

Tips about Bus transition........DON'T!! LOL, after so many years in the Boeing I guess I'm just spoiled. As I said earlier, I'm not a fan of the Bus but there are many that really like it(although most of them never flew a Boeing). After 4 years I've grown accustom to the Bus but if I could have the same schedule on the 37 I'd go back in a heart beat. I appreciate your advise on the arbitration, my view is it's gonna be whatever it's gonna be, getting upset isn't going to change things. So, as you said, crank the tunes and enjoy the time at the lake with my family and friends. BTW, I see you live in Vancouver, BEAUTIFUL city!! I usually do a few RON's up there during the summer, a welcome relief from Arizona. |

Unfortuatley too late to back out of the Mini Bus but I will be prepared for the so called "drinking out of a fire hose" course. Hope you have a great summer on the water and that the new US Air is as successful turning things around as we have been at AC. It still is the greatest job in the world! |
