I have never wakeboarded, but I surf and snowboard, and always wanted to try it. So I came into a little bit of money, and want to get a boat. I know a guy that is selling a boat, but I dont know if it is worth getting if I want to wakeboard.
The boat is an 18' stingray open bow, it does not have a wakeboard tower, and it only has 135 hp...is that strong enough to pull a wakeboarder and have a few people in the boat at the same time?
If it's not what should I be looking for?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Dave |

| I think you should save up more and get a true wakeboard edition boat. If you get that boat you will probably regret it. So go for the gold. |

| I would look into something with a bit bigger of an engine, because chances are you are going to want to buy some fat sacs/ballast/weight modification equipment eventually, and have a full boat load of people. 135 Horses wouldn't be able to take that. I would say give us a rough estimate of how much you are looking to spend on a boat, and we can go from there. |

I'm guessing his boat is an outie right? 135 Hp should be plenty to pull you up out of the water. Towers are easy enough to come across and in a learning stage, ballast isn't a complete necessity.
It all boils down to whether you plan on having the boat for a long time or not. Some people will buy the boat and keep it for a year or two and upgrade to something better, so maybe that might be a good idea if you have the bling. _________________

I Say go for it. I learned behind a 16' bowrider with a 70hp motor. Im 6' 200# and it pulled me and my freinds up. You dont need a wakeboard boat to wakeboard, trust me. _________________ Lets Ride!

If you aren't willing to go all out on the boat, 135 will be fine. I started behind a 120 and have a 130 now with no tower and it's fine. Yeah, a wakeboat would be much nicer, but hey... I can't afford it |
