OK this is probably biased seeing as I havent rode many boards, but I'm almost the same proportions as you (just slightly ligher, same height) and I like my Obrien Oasis 137 w/ Link bindings. The bindings are extremely comfortable and fit well for both me and my dad. AS for the board it's got enough aggression to do well but not so much it's difficult to control, it is very stable and a comfortable board to ride, I highly recommend

go smaller than a 137, that's too big for you, go for something in the 133 or 134 range

I am very new to this sport. I have tried it a couple of times on a friend's Hyperlite 2 summers ago. My Dad recently bought a 20 ft Bayliner so I am at the lake a LOT more than ever before. Skiing has just gotten somewhat boring. It is time to move on......questions:

I visited the link provided for beginners on here to find a board but that only got me so far. I am not really wanting to spend more than $300-$350 for now on a board setup.

1) When buying a board, does the price usually include the boots/bindings and all?

2) Any suggestions on board setups for me at that price (I am 5'10, 185-190lbs)?

The Bayliner doesn't have a tower (sucks, I know) so I am not sure if this plays a role into what board I need to look for.

Thanks guys!!! Very Happy

go to ebay and look at 2005 stuff. Can get great gear for realy good prices. Your size get a 138 or up. It will tell you if the bindings are included or not. I ride a 2005 hyperlite Murray and it is good for all riding levels. Very consistant. Have fun!

1) Will any Hyperlite bindings fit any Hyperlite board?

2) What size (L, XL ?) bindings would I need for a 9.5/10 shoe size? I would like others to be able to use it too, though (if possible).

3) You say go bigger than a 138 but is there a size I shouldn't go bigger than? Too much board for a beginner to handle?

Sorry for so many questions here guys and girls.

Thank you.

Lucedale is 30 miles north of Passcagoula on the coast just west of Mobile , AL in MS. My family is from hernando which is not far from you.
Any binding will fit any board.
Go with the large binding. I were a mens 8 and were a medium binding and it is almost to big.
The size of the board has nothing to do with riding level. Ony comfort for the riders size, biger size for bigger rider. For a beginer you want to go with a continuos rocker not a 3 stage.
Hope this helps.

I also would not go bigger than a 138. You will grow but by the time you are bigger you may want to buy some new gear that has come out by then.
