Hello Everyone,
I am getting very serious into wakeboarding; i have been going with a friend and using his board the past couple weeks and really would like to buy my own ride..Here is what he suggested, need everyone's input:
2006 Parks 136 Wakeboard by Hyperlite
And I need to know what bindings would be best with this board---I would like open toed and not terribly expensive..any ideas?
THANKS! |

| the parks is a good board but is meant for advanced riders. are you buying from a local shop? what brands do they carry? you really can't go wrong with Liquid Force, Hyperlite, CWB. |

My price range for both board and bindings I'm trying to hit around $600-700..I really don't want to buy from our local shop because they overprice, so I'm trying to find something online and get a better deal out of it.
I'm also not really sure on what length of board to get..I've ridden on a 136 and that rode fine..I'm almost 6'0" (and not done growing) and weigh 175-180...Is 136 about right, or do I need to go up to 140? |

definitely go up to 140. i'm about the same size as you and a 136 is too small for me. if you're looking into buying brand new gear, the online prices will be the exact same as your boardshop prices. the good thing about buying from your local boardshop is that when something breaks, you can take it in and they will probably fix it, get you a new board, or get you a loaner board until they can replace/fix your board. your boardshop will probably also let you demo a few boards before you buy. my boardshop does this thing where i can pay $20 to use a board for a day. if i end up buying a board (doesn't have to be the same one) then they will take the demo money off the price. so my advice is to read up on a bunch of boards, read reviews on them, then go to your shop and demo at least 2 of them that you think you might like and buy one of them from the shop.

| Wow that sounds good..I think I will call my boardshop today and see what they can do...What do I do about bindings, do they supply those with the board, or do I need to buy my own? I like open toed bindings, and don't really know what's good or bad... |

| the boardshop might or might not have packaged deals where you can buy them together and save money, but they will let you try on a bunch of pairs. IMO, demoing bindings isn't as big of a deal as boards are. most are open toed so no worries there. i've heard a lot of good things about the latest CWB bindings; like the CWB Zeus or Factions. Some of the liquid force bindings from 2006 have been randomly breaking. i personally would go with some cwb bindings if you can get them. |

How much will these CWB bindings cost me (new)...and how does size work up with these? I wear an 11(or so) size shoe..what size bindings would I need to buy? Do you have any suggestions on videos or tutorials I could get a hold of? Any help would be great... |

for the price, go to your shop or visit some of these sites (just a few off the top of my head)
http://www.evogear.com/
http://www.boardersparadise.com/
http://www.boardstop.com/
http://www.wakeside.com/
http://www.buywake.com/
they should have sizing charts, but you should definitely attempt to try some on before you buy. i think i heard that the zeus especially you need to go up a size from what it says. you'll probably need an XL though.
for a tutorial, i haven't actually checked this out myself, but try The Book wakeboard instructional DVD. you can probably buy it from one of those websites above. |

Where are you getting this info from? Personal opinion? From someone else who knows a guy, who knows a guy, who mows the lawn of a guy, that works for the industry? _________________

I'm a size 11 and I ride Zeus Mediums but they are just a bit too small, if you are going for a Zeus or Faction, a Large is probably the size for you.
I agree with the guys in saying that the parks is probably too advanced for a 1st timer.
You can get package deals like the CWB Pure 140 with Torqs or the CWB Flame 141 with Torqs for like 420. They'd be a perfect beginners set up.
Or splash the cash a bit more and get the Pure / Factor / Flame with the new Faction Bindings at 520.
Hyperlite's motive is a great beginners board and Liquid Force do great boards.
And remember you can have different (practically) any brand of bindings on any board.
Good Luck. |
