I ran into my best friend from college last night and he tells me he and his 2 brothers are going to buy a boat this week. I am all pumped for him and start asking about what kind, if they are looking at a wakeboard boat, etc... He says they want a wakeboard boat but don't know anything about them and will I help him out? Uh...Hell yes!!!
I try steering him towards used boats to save money and all, but he keeps frowning and going back to the idea of a new boat. After a while, I say, "Look a new boat costs some jack and a used boat will do you just fine, don't waste the money." He says, "We are looking to spend about $50,000. What can we get for that?"
Yes, I damn near fell over! Anyway, I am off to the Malibu, Nautique and Mastercraft dealers this afternoon to get some sticker prices. How cool is it that I get to spend someone elses jack and add another boat to my mooch list? |

| 50gs is a lot of money but i would still look at used. especially since they aren't looking for specific things. i would have a hard time forking over the money for a new boat knowing how much value it will lose in the first year. then again i dont have any money so i dont have that problem. |

| LOL to everyone!! The only problem is these guys (there are 3 going in) want a boat RIGHT NOW. They don't really understand about test driving, haggling over price and could care less about wake (it should be REAL fun to teach them how to ride). They just want a nice boat to throw a ton of chicks on that you can wakeboard behind for fun. Yes, they'll be the guys on the lake with the nice boat and can't ride that makes you gag...but they earned the $$$ themselves, so they have the right. What I think they should do is get a used X-30 or LSV for the extra room because both have good wakes for me to ride! Since they are stuck on a new boat, I would bet they end up with a Malibu as they seem to be the most cost effective. I like all 3 brands and ride behind all 3, but if I had my own $$$ to blow, I'd probably go MC X2. I like the wake pop and just think they look tuff. I'll keep you guys updated. |

jt, they could get an X-10 for under $50. It has the room to throw a bunch of chicks in it and also has a nice wake. Sort of in between the X2 and X30.
VLX is a nice boat as well. When spending that much $$$, it is hard to go wrong...
Congrats! |

I have never understood the concept of the X-10. Suppossed to be a bigger boat and hold more people, right?
Length X-2...20'7" X-10...20'9"
Beam X-2...90" X-10...95"
Holds X-2...12 X-10...11
Huh? Pulled this straight from the MC website.
First, I ain't crammin 12 people on an X-2. I like about 6, 8 max.
Second, how does a bigger (even if barely) boat hold less people?
Third, If MC is going to make a boat between the X-2 and the X-30, why not make it 21'9" or close...why only 2" longer and 5" wider. Never have figured that one out. No offense to X-10 owners, but why buy that boat? Surely it costs more than the X-2, no? |

I have an X-10. the main difference between the 2 is that in my opinion the X-10 throws a ramp wake and the X-2 throws more of a vert style wake. I actually am thinking about getting rid of the boat for something else. _________________ NOR*CAL |

| That's the first time I have heard that west coast boarder. I think that would be a pretty good selling point as a lot of people don't dig MC's vert wake. |

jt, the X-10 has a much wider beam. It is very easy to tell when looking at both side by side. The main reason we bought the X-10 was that it has a deeper hull and cuts through the chop easier.
We demo'ed the X-Star and X-10 at the same time and there was a huge difference on our lake. Rough water was our main reason.
Also, ours indicates a capacity of 13 people on the sticker inside our boat. The most we have had on it is 11. |

NAW - I don't think Calabria has much of a presence here in TX. I have never seen one in person.
hOUston boarder - That makes sense as well - the rough water part. That 13 people makes more sense too. |

*Begins to contemplate the possiblities of trading for a new V-drive boat?????* Jt, I do plan on getting a new boat next year, I just had to get on the water as soon as possible, and I just found a deal I couldnt refuse. I actiual did buy a 95' ski Centurion from Austin boats and motors, but on the final test drive, the transmission blew up and left us out in the middle of Travis. Neddless to say, I went and ripped up my check and all the paperwork when we finally made it back to the shop. _________________
