I'd be worried about someone stealin my board. They should have put some sort of locking system on it. Something similar to those things you can put on ur steering wheel only switched around to keep the board on the rack. Other than that, great idea!

I believe they do have a locking mechanism. It looks like a laptop lock if you've ever seen one of those. More or less a smaller version of a bike lock.

My buddy has a snowboard rack on his Echo that could do that It's a trailer hitch bike rack attachment which holds the boards vertical. I'd think on a highway, that rack would get quite a bit of wind resistance. _________________

the pics in the link are gone so I'm not sure what that looked like on a truck. Here's my poor-man's effort at getting boards around in my truck without scratching them. I used the preformed bed pockets for the 2x8s and just used screws and bungees to hold them down. This is obviously not secure enough to leave unattended but it works for me. Word. _________________

no offense tball, but for the same price that it cost to get that lumber you could've just bought a bag to put the boards in... _________________ Neuston Boards

Or you could just throw them in the back and not worry about scratches. It's not like the affect the performance of the board. How are you going to protect them from sliders.

yeah I know. Instead of putting the boards down on an edge in the truck, I just put them upside down on the boards.
As for protection from sliders, I built a frame out of waterproofed 2x4's that I bungee to the bottom of the board to keep it from getting scratched. I also rigged a can of PAM cooking spray to the board that sprays the slider as I go across it. (sorry, no pics of that ) _________________

What i meant to say was that they WILL get scratched on sliders and it doesn't matter. That's what theu are for. To slash up the water and jib stuff. Who cares if they get scratched.

I just modified some Thule racks to fit in my "utili-track" system. They slide back and forth to fit both snowboards and wakeboards - and they lock.
