I just dislocated my right knee after wakeboarding on saturday. It was really bad, when my knee cap was out of place it fractured my femur. This has happend to both of my knees would the cti2 vapor brace be a good choice for wakeboarding ?

If you dislocated your knee, it means you tore your acl, in which case no brace will really be able to help you much. The EBI alliance is the brace i use for riding after my ACL reconstruction. I had a CTI Vapor and i tried to ride with it before my surgeory it really didn't do much. Also my EBI Alliance is WAY more supportive anyways. But riding with a torn ACL is not worth it in my opinion. Espically if you haven't torn your meniscus yet....

It might, the main reason i wear mine is because i have had some of my mensicus removed as well so i have a little bit of play that it helps reduce, plus it is more of a confidence issue. According to most studies (i am told) braces are purely mental. The force it requires to tear your acl is more than what the brace can with stand. The CTI vapor is primairly an ACL brace as far as i know. Have you been to a doctor about it? You can't get either brace without a doctor's perscription.

Dislocating your knee does not necessarily mean you torn your ACL. A brace will not stop you from fracturing your femur nor keep your patella dislocating.

You need to see your orthopod about issues with your patella and get Physical therapy started so you can learn: How to maintain strength and coordination of your the muscles that help tract your patella.

The only brace that I've used is the Cti2, just the standard one, not the Vapor. I believe the vapor is more of a low-impact one, the standard one is the way to go for wakeboarding. I used my cti2 for snowboarding, while I had a torn ACL. I could tell it took some getting used to for my brain. It's like my body was saying "I know there's no ACL, but it feels stable, this is weird." After a while I just forgot I was wearing it.

I have to go in for ACL Restruction & Torn Meniscus next month.

I narrowed it down to 2 Braces, will use the brace mainly for:
1-Surfing (actual surfing in the Ocean).
2-Snowboarding
3-Wakeboarding

The Cti2 Vapor also has the "VAPOR SPORT" which is a little more supportive than then "Standard Vapor" (eg: rated for Low Impact vs. Medium Impact)

Not sure if to go with the Vapor Sport or go with the Standard Cti2 brace (not the same as the Standard Vapor).

Also whats up with this EBI Alliance Brace????...it looks pretty supportive but it also looks kind of bulky....how do you think that Alliance would be for Surfing??????

i dislocated my knee/knee cap and i didn tear my ACL but i tore my meniscus. i have a brace my PT gave to me after my surgery and i use it in the water but its not meant to be in the water. so i mean you could probably just use a regular neoprene one, thats what i do.

and btw the knee brace i use keeps my patella in place so that it doesnt dislocate. but ive also had to go to physical therapy for over a year to fix the patella tracking problems in both my knees.

all better now though Very Happy

Holy crap, the Cti2 Vapor runs from $850 to $1500. Any suggetions on where to pick up a decent brace, maybe retail.

I had an ACL reconstruction (with meniscus repair) in February. I haven't been on the water yet post surgery.

After I tore it last July I used a Donjoy Defiance for some wakeskating. It seemed to make it feel more stable but I was taking it pretty easy. I find it to be a pretty good brace once you figure out how to get it on correctly. It cost about $1300 bucks (Canadian) and I had to wait a couple weeks to get it.

It seems most people wakeboarding with braces are using the Cti2, but my doctor liked the donjoy better, and who am I to argue with him.
