so ive been trying to do some S bends since my bag of tricks are starting to get repetive and not challenging anymore,

im looking to step up to the next level from grabs, but i dont want to start spins yet (really bad experience has my confidence shaken still)

can anyone lay out some tricks and tips to challenge me?

i can get very good air, about 5-6'

ive got my 180's down, but not the 360's, they knock me out cold Smile Twisted Evil

are you serious? do you even know what an s-bend is? an s-bend is a raley with an overhead 360. not many people can do them.

when you say you have your 180's down, which ones are you talking about? remember, there are 8 of them:

hs fs 180
hs bs 180
ts fs 180
ts bs 180
switch hs fs 180
switch hs bs 180
switch ts fs 180
switch ts bs 180

if you can do a lot of the above i'd say you're ready for 3's. or you could try a backroll or tantrum. getting better at switch riding is also fun/rewarding/important.

i'd like to see a video (or a picture) of you getting 6' of air. Wink

yeah i guess i thought an S bend was something different then Laughing

i can do 180's from both sides of the wake and rotate both ways.. thats all, not sure what all those 180's u mentioned are

and when i get really high air, i cant get any tricks in, usually i cut as hard as i can and just try to go for full out air, when im doing my tricks, im usually around 4' of air

Dip_Krew, what do you mean by s bend?

A few tricks you could try working on are:

all 180s, hs/ts, fs/bs, learn them switch too
work on switch riding all around, hs/ts switch w2w
360s
tantrum/backroll
learn to grab everythign you can do
tweak out grabs
surface/ollie tricks

the first time i ever tried a 360' i fell really really hard, so hard the board came around and hit me in the face and knocked a tooth out!

im getting decent at them now, but i just get that queezy feeling in my stomach when i think of not landing it.
i can land the 360 8/10 times, i just cant get the handle grab down, thats where i screwed up the first time, and im having issues overcoming it.

http://www.owsa.com/

goto that site and on the main page there is a short video, i thought an S bend was where he leaned back and was parallel with the water and reached back for his board...

if I'm looking at the right video and the right trick, that is a hoochie krypt. it might not be as hard as the s-bend but still very difficult. i'd try backside 180s, 360s, or backrolls/tantrums if i were you.

Dip_Krew, damn dude you gotta take baby steps, the trick that you thought was an S-bend is like a three part trick, first u gotta learn raleys which are usually hard as hell for beginners/anyone who hasn't done one, then you gotta learn to take your front and hand off and grab it hoochie(melan), THEN you gotta land switch so don't get too much ahead of yourself haha and yeah jpminter is right you cant say you landed a 360 8/10 tries but you didnt get the handle, thats more like 0/10

im not saying im landing the 360's as a full trick, im saying, as far as the rotation, i am landing the full rotation, but when i goto do the handle grab i screw up, so no i have not landed a complete 360 yet.

think of the 360 as a handle pass rather than a rotation. the rotation is easy. the handle pass is what makes it tough.

if you take where it looks like the top of the board is, and follow it down, then try and account for how the board is a decent way above your head, visually place it down where it should be, and i would say it would be lucky to be above the water line, making it 4 feet at the VERY TOP

IMO sorry for losing you if you couldnt follow, i think abstract

What is the handle doing up by your head? If you lose that much form off the wake, it means you are 'spazzing out'. Keep your jump in control and keep the handle at your hips. You should actually push the handle 'down' as you leave the wake.

Also about layed out grabs, keep in mind you need enough air time to not only lay them out, but also to pull them back in. Talk about pain-- catching an edge on a failed 360 will feel like a baby slap compared to coming up short on a glide.
