ok, heres how i start, i think its pretty much how everyone deep water starts... hold the board on your feet with one hand so the bottom graphic is facing the boat, and hold the handle with your other hand. then tell your driver to go very slow, you should start to feel the board being sucked up on your feet next, put your other hand on the handle. then tell your driver to hit it and get up like its a wakeboard.
and if i were you, id learn without fins. it helps you edge better when you need it. you can always put them back on if you dont like it.

i do not know how you would ride a wakeskate without fins. it is slick as haiti's and the fins were on mine. i rode yesterday for the first time and i have a new found respect as to how my board edges. that thing is slick! i was all over the place. it was fun riding sideways tho.

i just saw this poat was like a week old. how did you do?

Check out a DVD called "The Book" its a 3 disc instructional dvd on wakeskating. I would highly recommend it.......

Dont buy the 5 disc THE BOOK on wakeboarding......

I ride finless all the time.

scar_11,

narxs70,

some people say that riding finless is cheating, because on shuvs you dont need to really pop the board, i could care less, i like it finless, and the sattelyte heartbreaker comes without holes or fins, i like that non feature if you will

either way, just skate and have fun.....

muckmeister, the Heartbreaker edges super nice too. The Nose and Tail are edged more but the center is rounded. It's awesome.

I am also somewhat in the same boat, but I have used old little kid wakeboards with grip tape on the top as a temporary substitute. Me and my friends all wakeboard/tube/participate in assorted watersport activities about 2-5 times a week, and we are looking to invest in a wakeskate. However, we do not plan on going all out and just wakeskating. But, we would like a nice higher-end skate so we don't feel the need to buy a new one later this season, or next season. So any reccomendation? We aren't really looking to spend more than 120$ ish on a board, but we will if it makes that much of a difference. Also, what kind of shoe would you reccomend? I was looking at the DVS milan wakeskate shoe (in black, not that ridiculous green), and was just wondering if anyone has used these shoes before.

I was worried I would have trouble getting the sucker under my feet, holding it there and standing up.
First attempt, no problem.

Its easier then you think.
As the rope handle is coming to you, put your front foot on the board, use your right arm to push the board down and place your back foot on the boar,d grab the rope and as the driver goes at a slow idle in gear it will stay under your feet...then just hit it and stand up. it surprised me how easy it was, hard it was not.
At first you are stuck with the position you put your feet in before you stand up, but after a bit you can adjust your weight enough to move your feet around on the board while riding...

if you have been wakeboarding you can deep water start on the skate...yesterday was my 10th day on the skate (first season) and I am cathcing a little bit of air, grinding, surface 3's, riding switch, etc. The skate is a kick in the as*, it really is effortless to do surface tricks.

I have fins on both ends, its a Liquid Force Faction skate foam top, barefoot.

hco, look at Kampus's new decks....they should be out soon and the K39 is about 120 and those are super solid flat decks, oh and the milan is a sweet shoe...i have the "ridiculous green" and they look and feel sweet...the color is really sweet

Lake- heh, whatever works, green isn't my thing. I would also be using them alot for every day use, and I am need something that looks good with everything. Hopefully since they have so much air-flow/drainage I might be able to wear them as a pair of shoes in the summer without having to worry about massive feet sweat.

Also, I saw another thread about this, but any particular reason as to why you would reccomend me a flat deck over a concave deck?
