so a friend of mine bought a nice new laptop. delivered by FedEx sometime today but it required a signature. weird. so my friend got online and saw that it was signed for by "N Rodeo." she doesnt know anyone by that name, or any possible variant thereof.
FedEx has been notified. what else can/should be done? _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

Not a whole lot from my experience. It's now in Fed Exs hands to track down the package.
Other than calling and being a pain in their arse is the only other thing that works too.
Was it sent to a home or office? _________________
8824, dude - I suck. You were right.
. |

That is awesome.
I requested a client's check be delivered "no signature required" as I figured their 5mm house in a gated community was fairly secure.
Too bad the company that sent the check had their old address. Hehe OOPS $170,000.
At least I made a 5 minute phone call and did a stop/reissue. All your friend can do is work through the FedEx nvestigation & claims process. They should have delivered ONLY to the receipient. Obviously someone was careless....
They can also use their CC company to dispute if necessary. Kinda lame persecuting the seller, but you gotta look out for #1 first. _________________

chavez, actually if you don't specify the signature, they will get anyone who is capable of signing.
I learned that the hard way.... It was my fault and luckily is was a minor loss. _________________
8824, dude - I suck. You were right.
. |

Well let's hope a neighbor has it and Fed Ex completely botched the name. I've had that happen too. _________________
8824, dude - I suck. You were right.
. |

Dragonlady8, they are required to deliver it to someone actually in the house or business. If they failed to do so, then they failed to deliver and are culpable.
Anyhow, I'd bet your last post is what happened.
I'd dispute it with my CC company. Let the seller fight it out with FedEx as it should have been shipped signature required and insured. _________________

Do any of the neighbors run a business?
Sometimes they'll ask that all packages go to the business address, so it may have been re-routed there and signed by an employee. |

You'd think that once FedEx invested in all the high-tech gadgetry to track their stuff and to get a signature, they would make some kind of attempt to make sure the signator was either the addressee or at least emerged from the address. Anything short of that seems to violate their raison d'etre, non? Otherwise the driver could sign for something himself and *POOF*, brand new laptop. I hope that between the seller/FedEx/and the credit card company your friend gets made right.
Any chance the tracking number was wrong? _________________

scott a, You aren't getting the whole story. My family is in the FEDEX business. When that happens the FIRST thing that FEDEX does is contact the driver and get the story from him. Your friend should call FEDEX and find out what the driver said. _________________ Brent B

| I have had one problem w/ fedex. ordered a very large and heavy package be delivered ground for about 55bux. somewhere along the lines something got F-ed up and they sent it overnight express, and charged my credit card over 500big ones! a few days worth of phone calls(and one threat) and FedEx droped all the charges. so in all I was very happy with fedex and will use them again. |

and you better believe my friend called FedEx the SECOND she got home and realized her new laptop was MIA. wanna know what FedEx said? "we'll look into it." fantastic. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

Hopefully things will work out in her favor. But it also may appear that either local Fed Ex is scamming or the neighborhood isn't what it's appearing to be. _________________
8824, dude - I suck. You were right.
. |

package came this morning. my friend signed for it.
confirmation came in the email this morning.
confirmation that N. Rodeo signed for her package is also still still there/not updated.
nobody has gotten back to my friend about her issue, not that its a huge deal now.
good job FedEx _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com
