Thanks to a generous sponsor, my next event will have $1100 prize money. Wakeboard divisions are Novice thru Outlaw, masters, veterans and open wakeskate.

How many divisions total, Novice - Outlaw is pretty vague.

If you pay out for all divisions, outlaw should have substantially higher cash prizes than other divisions and cash amounts should fall pretty quickly for other divisions but the harder divisions should get more money than the next lower div. If the cash prizes are too similar across categories, then you may get riders sandbagging in a division below their true level just to get the prize money.

Depends on how much schwag you have too. We usually have boatloads of schwag and the riders who place in divisions get tons of schwag. 1st place in each division usually gets a combination of schwag and cash with outlaw riders getting cash only...and a good chunk of it too.

everyone should get a litle shwag for participating(sticker, poster, tshirt) and top 3 should get money, it should doubled very division as it is bumped. also drawings (board...giftcard too shop not neccessary but usefull if you ahve alota stuff)and larger prizes for winners(money, voucher for free boots or board, handle). and a wildcard for like best trick.

also if rider is ridding "too well" for their division then bump them up.

I gotta agree. If you don't put at least a good portion of the money to the outlaw riders, then you'll have sandbaggers.

this is just my opinion:

if you were to give prize money to the novice riders, then the intermediate riders who don't place get nothing might be mad because they are better riders in a slightly harder division. i think that the money should go to the 2 highest divisions and then some of the money to the open wakeskate.
