Man, I was riding today and took a pretty hard fall and still have a pounding headache. I have taken about 4 Goody's powders and 2 aspirin. Still seems to throb. I have been getting these regularly after falls for the past year. Does this happen to anyone else? Maybe I have a huge brain tumor or something(?) _________________ My opinion is my opinion!

that happens to my dad. i think it's just because he's old though. jk. but i really think that's why.
you might want to ask a dr. or something. wait till phantom reads this. she can probably tell you something useful. |

That would be bad.
Normally when i have headaches that wont go away with aspirin i take some nighttime medicine that puts me to sleep. Then when i wake up the headache has usually disappeared. If it hasnt, then i just tough it out.
The solution to your entire problem is to just not fall hard _________________ "I knew those girls were pros, but don't tell Turtle, it'll break his heart." - Drama, Entourage |

It sure does! I think you have to request Sudafed from the pharmacist now that people make drugs out of it. I know that they have taken off the shelves at most of my local stores and it is now behind the counter. _________________ My opinion is my opinion!

| what kind of drugs can you make out of sudafed? i've never heard of that. ok that sounds like an odd question but i was just wondering. no one needs to explain how they make the drugs either. |

Sudafed (i.e. pseudoephedrine) is still over the counter. It is also in many combination medications. Phenylpropanolamine was taken off the counter do to risk of stroke/elevated blood pressure. I prescribe sudafed all the time to my patients, but it is OTC. _________________ Since stupidity isn't a crime, You are free to go. |

You fell on your head & now your head hurts ? Welcome to reality.
The best remedy is to stop falling on your head.
Also - this may not be the best place to seek medical advise...

RichD, I meant that they make you ask the pharmacist for it so it is a little more difficult to get in quantity without raising some eyebrows!
pedro, Yeah-it sucks, but the knocks come with being out of shape and out of sync. I was just wondering if it happens frequently to others. _________________ My opinion is my opinion!

| I always take a bunch of advil before I go out because I know I'm going to end up hurting somewhere. Then after I'm finished I take some more for the pain that always comes a little later. |

All headaches are the cause of asprin or advil deficiency. it's a medical fact.....
actually, if you get headaches after hard falls, it's a 99% chance that you have some issues w/ your neck. go to a chiropractor, i guarantee it'll cure you faster, and it's a hell of a lot better than taking medicine all the time. _________________ "Half of what I say is meaningless, but I say it just to reach you" |

Taking any asprin-like products isn't reccomended for injuries to the noggin, especially concussion type. Since these medications act as a "blood thinner" and may cause increase bleeding from injuries to the brain. Repeated trauma to the head do add up and may eventually cause some problems with thought processes, fine motor skills, memory.....
Just look at some of the boxers from the past.
This is all generalized information.
But if you continue to have a headache, like the worst headache that you've ever had in your entire life, may I suggest you seek medical attention ASAP. |

I bet it's the sinus thing... Seriously. Once I went on a plane and thought I was going to die. I was super stuffed up, and the whole flight I thought my face was going to implode. Worst pain ever. I went to the Doc and he said that the pressue actually trapped water behind my ear drum. One day sitting at work I heard this really loud sound like your tub draining. It was scary, and I looked around to find that there was nothing there. Then I realized that it was ear draining. I was like WTF!!!!
That being said I still have minor sinus problems, which I attribute to smoking. When I quit it goes away, and I'm normal. So anyway, when I take a plane now, I take like 5 decongestents. But talk to a Doc because it could cause some long term damage. |

god she's smart
"Repeated trauma to the head" remind me of a commercial from "Intoxicore" Its a commercial about teen drink and says take a baseball bat and hit your friend over the head several times. this causes loss of brain cells just like the effect of drink. Or something like that. My dad doesnt drink but him and I roll everytime we so those commercials _________________

Well, I do have a fat neck-18.5"
It could be the cause or the sinus issue. I just seems like everytime I fall hard-I get a the instant headache. The only sure cure is not to fall that way I guess! _________________ My opinion is my opinion!

When I lived in SoCal I got hit in the head with a 50 MPH pitch of a softball, right in the temple. From that day on I had migraines every single day. Not just headaches, it was a really good day if it was a headache, but full blown migraines. Now that I live in Washington, I rarely have them now... must be the smog. But when I crash (which is often) i get headaches that just won't seem to go away. The doctor put me on medication that lowers your blood pressure, it's called Inderal, and it's really helped. My headaches are at a minimum now. _________________ I hate my screenname, but that's alright. |

The only time I get really bad headaches wakeboarding is when I do..I mean try...to do something big, land with my back facing the boat and the HS edge catches and slames the back of my head into the water. It always seems to happen at the end of the day, prolly cause I always try to finish the day doing something new, and well, I always seem to land wrong..LOL. _________________

emokid, get off the medication and go to a chiropractor. they will tell you what's REALLY wrong with your head/headaches, and then fix it. that way you can quit spending money on medicine that they are paid to tell you to take.
(also, there is a chance that a chiropractor won't be able to help, but it will be a very, very slim chance) _________________ "Half of what I say is meaningless, but I say it just to reach you" |

Don't stop your med unless recommended by your Doc. His medication (Inderal) is indicated for prophylaxis of chronic migraines, migraines are believed to be vascular headaches and his medication has a purpose in the treatment, unlikely chiropactor will relieve his chronic headaches. By the way, the Neurologist that work at our hospital recommend against manipulation of the cervical spine by a chiropractor, Thoracic and Lumbar spine OK. |

Follow up: I took a decongestant before riding this weekend and I did not get one headache and took several hard falls. It may have been sinus related. _________________ My opinion is my opinion!

"It's not a tumor!"
I may be weird, but whenever I get water stuck in my ear, I love it when it drains. The pressure goes away and the water feels all warm and gushy. Plus, my hearing increases! |
