Well guys we has some thermal cracks develop on our 24 SSV over teh winter. This was the dealers demo boat that we purchased this spring and they said they would take care of the cracks. so they send it to a anonomous place in Baxter and low and behold they Bubb rubbed everything up. Now instead of cracks you can see these bad looking lines on the deck of the boat under the windsheild frame on both sides. and also the drivers side transom area. So when we go to get our baby back the GM says if your really unhappy we will right you a check out now our else you can use it for the summer. I am thinking awesome hes going to trade with us for a new boat. Then he says we will winterise your boat and rap it up and ship it back to SC to get a new deck snapped on it.my question is will the boat ever be the same after they take it apart and put it back together or do we cash out at the end of teh season and order a new 24?

If they replace the whole deck then yes it will be 100% good as new. If they are repairing the fiberglass then, no, it will never be 100% as strong again. If stress cracks are not repaired correctly (completely cut out and new glass installed,) then they will return eventually. If the cracks pose no threat to the structural integrity of the boat then I'd use it for this summer and then trade it in for a new one come winter '06.

I'd go get that check from the dealer ASAP, especially after their first attempt at a repair was a failure. I'd consider keeping the boat through the summer only if the dealer made a written commitment to buy it back for an agreed-on price at the end of the season regardless of hours or other wear & tear (which he won't do...if he does, fax me a copy and I will send you a pic of me eating a sock). My spidey-sense tells me that after using it for a summer you will either take a huge hit on trade-in or get stuck with a boat nobody will buy because they don't want to deal with the cracks or the half-ass repair job.

As for shipping it back to the factory for a new deck, even if there is a 90% chance that they will fix it completely and correctly the first time without breaking anything else, and that they can do it before next season starts, why would you risk it if you don't have to? Let the dealer own that risk. Take the money and get another boat.

We are thinking we will order a new boat at the end of the season and have been trying to get the dealer to agree on a set price on up to 115 engine hours. We just dont like the feeling that everything on the boat could be totally Bubb Rubb up when we get it back Shocked Anyways this was not the dealers fault with the current look of the deck even though they should have sent it back to SC before they sold it I mean they had all winter Rolling Eyes

Thats the end of my rant for now

Oh the half ass fix was not any part of the dealers fault. This was the anonumous body shop that was contracted to do the work Exclamation
And the boat has 63 hours on it

as far as getting it in writing, similar but different situation, my dealer did put it in writing and rick tinker at skiers choice backed the deal himself... so tball.... whats your fax number, I expect pics of you eating your sock!!! Mr. Green

full use of the boat this year and an even trade for an 07 setup the way this years was supposed to be including a few other small incentives!

you have to decide what is right for you!

I ordered my boat to be a specific hull color and it came in the wrong color.

it pretty much states that I will receive an even trade for an 07 with no extra costs to me(TAX, title, license), no limit on hours/use, just have to pay for rips/tears/gouges and any upgrades i may want!

gmarkham1, that's great that Supra came through like that for you. Kewlboarder27r, if you can get that worked out, I'll stand by my bet (that I may have made rashly Crying or Very sad ). Hope it works out!

just remember you bought a demo boat, probally at a pretty good deal, so you may have to pay a little more for a brand new boat, but they will do what it takes to make you happy.
