Hello folks, i looked around the site and found nothing on the 2k5 absolute.
So.......
How are the landings? I have semi-bad knee's/back and dont want to F___ them up anymore.
Also how is the ride? Loose? Tight? Controlable?
Thank you for taking the time to look at my thread |

Ethan31, best board I had a chance to ride to date. The Platinum model that is. I switched back to it after riding the 06 Trans Plat for about a month. The board holds great speed, breaks loose when you need it to, and has criminal pop. The landings are like a pillow as well... I ride mine finless, and it allows you to cheat your spins a hair better off the wake. I have nothing but good things to say about this model. The only other board I hold so highly is the 03 model which turned into the flame in 05. However, the 05 ABS was/is where its at.
Try it with the new Faction bindings and you will be able to ride longer sets, and walk the next day. I tore my acl, mcl, and miniskus (sp), and the board doesnt jar any of the repairs. Also, I broke my foot in 13 places, and the hinge bindings make getting my ragged foot in a walk in the park.
Try to go with the 141 if you can... Makes landings that much softer! _________________

| Blake - I assum trans plat is the transcend platinum? If so, I'm curious to know what you didn't like about the transcend. I have the 06 trans plat also and have the 05 absolute plat as my last year board. I kinda miss my absolute and am thinking about switching back. |

LOL!
A buddy of mine rides the '05 Absolute and he likes it a lot! He's ridden several different boards and that is his favorite. |

Blake, I would have to agree with everything you said about this board. I picked mine up at the end of last year and have completely feel in love. I'm riding 04 (maybe even 03) parks' bindings and have been looking for a new pair. You're saying to try the Factions eh? _________________

cbaird, I think it still is too slow... The design was supposed to be changed to help with this issue they had with the 05, but it just didnt quite make it to where I like it. Others may love the board, I am just upset they didnt fix the speed problems like I thought. I dont mind it being finless, as I ride everything without fins anyways. However, in choppy water, forget about being flat in the least. The 07, will be a much better board I believe. And dont get me wrong, I still ride the Transcend every now and then... But I had hopes of turning the ABS Plat into a slider, and I essentially had to do that with the Trans Plat instead.
wkebrd3, seriously, its a great board. And yes, I think the Factions are going to be a huge hit. The Torq are just to flimsy to me as far as as ankle support go. I love the Zues, because they offer a ton of support. For a high end binding, this is the cats meow. But if you are someone who is looking for good support, and a more user friendly binding, the Faction would be perfect. My sister is trying to get me to pick up a pair at PUD when she is able to send them to family members, and I think she talked me into it. _________________

Blake,
I felt the same slowness immediatly on my first ride, i've gotten used to it though. The board is wild on how slippery they made the bottom - not so much on the water but more when you are puting on your bindings on the swim platform - it's like it's on grease. The only thing I like is that it feels a bit more controllable. O well, just chuck it up to a $500 learning experience... I was going to get the 06 abs plat but there wasn't anything different from the 05 so I couldn't justify buying it, whereas the trans was different so it made some sense at the time... |

Same logic as to why I purchased it... Except it cost me less. Dont get down on yourself for buying it, as you already have the Absolute Platinum... The transcend allows ample amounts of time to load the line, and boots you high. Its more of a spinner board in my opinion. I just dont spin well, so it doesnt complement my riding ability. However, if there has been anything that I have learned in my years, you can never have to many different boards. Who knows, 2 years from now I may fall in love with the board. But as of right now, I still have a premature evacuation over the 05 Abs Plat. _________________

| I ride the Abs Plat. I love it. Great pop, sweet landings. Great board. I have also ridden the trans, didn't get the pop I can outta the Abs though. But it was still a good ride. You'll love the Abs. |

Glad to hear that the '05 Flame is based on such a sweet board. I rode mine for the first time this past weekend. Its the first board I've ever owned. I love it, but I have only ridden one other board (my buddy's hyperlite). _________________ 1998 Moomba Kanga w/ 6' Skylon pylon
