Just wanted to verify...
The tantrum videos always talk about tripping over the wake.
I assumed you had your back to the wake, and created the trip by digging in your TS edge.
I just read on another site (sorry WB.com) that you allow your HS edge to catch.
Is this true? If so, It would expain the ugly OA spin that I get when I try them. I do not seem to get enough trip.
....BUT since this sounds like the kind of tip you give a buddy to fill up the crash section of a video, I wanted to verify it with the experts. |

| yeah, most people say to let the wake "trip" you. how I do it is I come in hard as hell and then cut parallel to the boat at the last ~3 feet of the approach. this will "trip" your feet up and forward. all you have to do is tilt your head back and enjoy the ride. And do NOT let go! so many people do this during their first attempts, i am guilty. DONT LET GO. peace. let us know how it works out. |

Thanks for the tips.
BUT..... Do you
1. raise your toes at the last second and allow your HS edge to hook and trip you?
or
2. press down your toes at the last second to hit the bottom of the board on the side of the wake to trip you.
The tips on this site just say trip....
The tips I read on another site imply the 1st is true.... |

Try thinking of it THIS way.....(quoted from Kyle Schmit on The Book DVD set) Imagine skating backwards on rollerskates and hitting a curb. The curb is going to stop your feet but the momentum of your upper body will continue to bring you all the way around. A lot of people think you have to cut in as hard as you can at first but this makes it really hard to time your pop at the top of the wake. I cut in progressively, making sure that I jump straight up at the top of the wake. When your about halfway up the wake you want to let go of that back hands and begin to square those shoulders up parallel to the boat. Stand tall, throw your shoulders and head back, and keep that arm straight. Bending your arm is whats causing you to go into "an ugly OA spin." Its much easier than you are making it out to be and once you get it, it will all be cake. I learned this trick one wake first by extending my rope to about 80 ft. and slowing the boat down to about 18 mph(or just enough to keep the wake from white washing). "Aint nothin' to it, just do it!" Good Luck _________________ Live In Your World, See Through Ours - Fusion X Media |

yeah man i started trying tantrums a like a week ago and i totally didnt believe that just "tripping" on the wake would actually get you into a fliping rotation but after i just tried it i was surprized how easy it was to flip around and get pop. when i tried it the first time i cleared the wake and flipped the whole rotation but i didnt land it and i still havent landed it yet so what can i say _________________ i would rather be snowboarding/wakeboarding/skating/pimpin the ladies |
