ok so my girlfriend bought the 06 hyperlite syn and noise bindings for this summer. She used it once and then a week later when we went to take the bindings off we came across this. Right under the outside of the bindings theres a line of what looks like rust. I dont know exactly what it is but I tried a few things and it wouldnt come off. Any suggestions? Its not a big deal but eventually when she wants to move the bindings around it may not be too pretty, shes just kinda pissed right now

Tell your girlfriend to get in the kitchen, make you some breakfast and shut up!

If that doesnt' work try rubbing compound (for cars) or mag wheel polish. Either one will get it right out.

ok well i tried all kinds of rubbing compounds, cleaners, goo off, and anything else I could think of and it wont do anything. I actually dont really think it is rust. The bindings have a rubbery sandpaper thing right over where the marks are being left, so I'm wondering if the glue from that is working its way off and into the board? Any other ideas?

Sorry man. I guess you just won't be moving the bindings any time soon.

make sure the bindings are on tight. The top material is synthetic leather, and it may just be rub marks in the material. Make sure those bindings are screwed down tight so they don't rub. All boards get rub marks from the bindings...ALL.

Rubber is petroleum based. It does goofy things int he way of leaving marks on things. Some kind of chemical reaction I believe. Like a rubber backed rug turning a vinyl floor yellow. Driveway sealers turn vinyl floors yellow to. I sat big window sucktion cup thing on a counter top once and it left a permanent discolored circle on the counter top. Not sure why all the happens, but I'm saying it's possible, and if it's the same thing, it is indeed permanent. It has discolored the gel coat chemically. But it's easy to fix. Get some Wakechick stickers.

Sorry. I couldn't help myself.

lpwakeboarder9, are you sure the synthetic leather stuff hasn't dis-colored because of something in the water? The underside of your bindings will be wet for days after you ride. I get some nasty hard water stains under my bindings.

Yeah im sure its not the water. She actually never rode it, just when she got the board we took some tap water and put in on the bindings so she could test fit the bindings. The board was on but I never thought anything of it. A week later the bindings came off and thats what it looked like. Kinda sucks but I guess we wont be moving the bindings for awhile. After that its time for stickers

If you bought the board new, along with the bindings, ask the shop to switch your board out for another new one. If they won't do it, then ask if your girlfriend can use it until the end of season, then turn it in under the warranty.

I had a Double Up board last year, that had some bubbles in the top and bottom sheets. Also, the gray and black graphics faded to sort of a maroon and pink, except for underneath the bindings. They told me to use it, and turn it in at the end of season. Good luck!

Options:

1. Get your girlfriend an Era, it's the same board with different graphics.
2. It doesn't matter that the crap is there, when the bindings are on you can't see it. So option number two is, stop bitching.
3. It's not a big deal, probably discoloration from the disgusting water sitting under the bindings, so once again, stop bitching.
