Well, I 've finally finished the overhaul on my '04 210 SANTE. I replaced all factory speakers with the Polk MOMO 650's, added 6 MB Quart's to the tower, 2-12in Kicker Comp VR's, 3-4 channel amps to push the 6 Polks and the 6 MB Quarts (100 watts RMS going to all 6.5's, 250 Watts Max), 1 Class D Mono Block amp pushing the 2 12's (800 watts x 1 RMS 1500 watts Max), and I replaced all the wiring and upgraded to 14 guage. Everything turned out pretty good cosmetically. I did make a custom box for the 12's that replaced the factory cooler unit. This systems is VERY LOUD!! Let me know what you think. Thanks.

I did it all myself. Bought the equipment from different internet sites. I decided to go with really good speakers and average amps that still push good power. That way if an amp was to get wet it wouldn't hurt my feelings as bad. Price breakdown as follows:

3 Pairs of Polk Momo 650's = $450 - Crutchfield
3 Pairs of MB Quart's = $300 - Car Domain
2 Kicker Comp VR 12's = $260 - Crutchfield
3 Boss GT 780 4 ch. amps = $317.85 ($105.95 ea) - Millionbuy.com
1 Boss GT 1500D MonoBlock amp = $139.95 - Millionbuy.com
3 Pairs of Speaker cans with clamps = $390 - Alex at Pyramid Mfg. ebay
Misc Cables and cost to build sub enclosure = $500

TOTAL PROJECT COST = $2357.80

I did however sale most of the system that I replaced. Kicker sub and amp and a set of fusion tower speakers. Got $420 total for everything.

New system cost = $2357.80
LESS sale of old equip. = ($420)
TOTAL EXPENSE = $1937.80

Try buying 3 sets of Boss speakers, 4 amps, 2-12 in Kicker Comp VR subs with a custom enclosure, replacing all 6 factory boat speakers, and install for under 2 grand!! I feel like I came out pretty good considering.

CaM2816. Sounds great. Replacing the factory speakers alone and upgrading the amps and wiring made a HUGE difference. The Polks have the adjustable tweeters and they will definitely take your head off with this thing pumping. I've pretty much got the subs carrying all of the bass so that I could clean up the sound inside the boat and it sounds very clean. Add then the 6 MB Quarts to the tower and you can hear me way before you see me. The music can be heard loud and clear while riding and I'm very happy with how everything turned out.

Nice setup. I too am curious about the amps. I would like to see a picture of how you installed them. Any upgrade for your alternator or considering a cap for that much juice?

I am curious about your wiring too. Did you run seperate speakers lines to each one in the tower, or bridge them together? Also, did you use molex plugs or the like at the tower or just hard wire it?

dajuice, dayum son!!! You're right, there is no way I could pull off an install like that for the flow you spent. It would cost way much more. Great work on the install.

We really must see more pics of the amps, wiring layouts, etc. Are you running dual batts?

Here's one thing I suggested to my bud, and he just got done on his Launch. Have a switch that turns the tower speakers on or off. His boat is so loud that when you want to hear the towers when riding, you nearly kill the people in the boat. So he can turn off the boat speakers (except the sub) and crank the tower. That way everyone can still hear music and talk, and the rider hears it loud and clear.

Excellent job again on the install. Serious bling.

kstrongsyj The Boss amps have treated me well. They generally are somewhat overrated so I have in the past always kept that in mind when deciding which series to go with. The Polk's that I have are rated to handle about 80 watts RMS and the MB Quarts will handle up to 120 RMS. The amps that I have pushing those are rated at 100 watts RMS. Most likely about perfect if you were to test the wattage as I'm sure it's not quite 100 RMS. The MB's would probably take a little more, but they sounded great so I let that alone.. Most all Boss amps come with the bass control knob also. Didn't use that on my 3-4 channel amps that push my 6.5's of course, but I did for my sub amp. The crossovers in the amps I bought are somewhat limiting, but I wired in an additional crossover to control things better. I basically have highs and a little mid going to all 6.5's and let me subs carry all of the bass. I bought the GT series so I think if you pay a little more for the next series up you might have better crossovers built in. None of the Boss amps are expensive and are definitely a great way to go if you want to push good power at low costs. I mean really, I could have spent $300-$400 easily on 1-4 channel amp made by clarion, JL, Kicker, Rockford, etc, etc. This way if one does happen to get wet I wont feel as bad. I had a Boss amp in my last boat for 3 years and never had any problems. For $100 anything is worth a try, but these amps have proven to be effective for me anyway!!

All my wires are home runs to the amp. No bridging, all straight to the amps. 14 guage and no connections at the tower joints.

I did use a cap in the set-up. The boat has dual batteries that are switched. adding the cap seemed to help out. I have had the boat turned off for 1.5 hours once before with the system on at normal listening levels. I did turn the main battery off just in case, but when I cranked the boat back up I still had 13V worth of juice. Factory alt. and everything so far is charging/holding charge perfect. I'll try to get some pics of the amp set-up for you guys.

ap1 Ever ridden in a 210?? I can fit 8 very easily. My last boat seated almost 13 and was just overkill. I usually never have more than 8 people in the boat anyway. It is a great size in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback man. I order 2 of the same amps you have and 4 of the db650 polks. I just cant justify the dough for the momo series right now in my financial being Wink

Right now I have 4 of the stock clarions in the boat, a Punch 10 in a booty fab box I had in the garage, all run with punch stuff. A Punch 40 X2 for each pair of 6.5's and a Punch 60IX (Yup- da ole school) for the 10.

For now I am gonna run the clarions with one Boss, and the 4 Polks in my tower with the other (soon as I can get a hold of Billet Man). Leave the Punch 60 for the 10. I need to build a custom fit box for my 10 so it tucks up under and deeper in my dash.

I am only on one battery, so high priority for me is add a second battery for a back up. I have the battery in the garage, just need to figure out how to wire it in properly (something I have not done yet)

Here are a couple pics....I installed all this in 2.5 hours on a saturday morning before hitting the lake Wink

So dont critisize too much.....I actually normally do much cleaner work. At least now I will have a chance to get under there and fix it all so its right.

The FCT is pretty easy to fish wires through. I just used a fish tape. No problems at all.

Great looking setup! I just installed the MMC650's in those same cans and I'm a bit dissapointed in the fit. They sound great but there is a 1/2" space between the speaker grill and the edge of the can. The MB's look like they fit much better.
Can I ask what model of MB Quart speaker you used?

I am experiencing a problem. Got my DB 650's today and they dont fit Sad

Looks like the cans take a 6.75 speaker with a 5 and 5/8 mounts hole vs the 5 inch mounting hole the 6.5 needs. Have to return the the 6.5 now and order up the 6.75's. I really like the way those MB Quart fit....which models are they?

Another Q for ya (Am I driving you nuys yet?) What did you do for connectors on the cans? Did you use a connector in the 2 holes on the top or just run wire in and seal it?

I will say this about the cans. I had originally planned to use the same Polk's on my tower setup and had to send them back as well because the mounting hole was too big. I really liked the finished look of the MB Quarts, but as usual, something had to come up to make this seemingly simple task a little more difficult. To add the MB Quarts I had to have the mounting hole enlarged to almost 7in. It had to be done precisely (sp?) in order for these things to work properly. The MB's have a mounting ring that compresses into the can opening, then the speakers mount to the rings, then the grills compress into the ring also. Not sure if thats the way all MB's are, but that was my biggest problem.
