The "ultimate" bunk boards

I need to replace the bunk boards on my trailer. This is for my 89 Supra Mariah.

I am considering using the “ultimate bunk boards” available here:

These look like they are pretty cool. And they look like they would be easy to attach, just screw into the bunk boards from underneath. This makes me think I could do an “at the boat ramp parking lot replacement” (which I have done before) without having to do a bunch of pre measuring ahead of time.

The cost for the four boards I need is 240 bucks. This is actually cheaper than what I have been quoted to by shops to replace my boards with wood.

So what do you guys think of these ultimate bunk boards? Are there any downsides to using them? Are they hard on the boat gel coat? If they are so great, why don’t all the trailer builders use them?

Im always leary of those plastic ones. Think about the wear it will put on your boat. Apparently they have built in gripping, but are also slick plastic which makes me think they will do some serious slidding and rubbing.

I would just recarpet and replace your boards. Borrow one of those battery op'd hand saws and a screw driver and your set for doing it at the ramp.

Sounds like a good product to me. I'd buy it if I had to replace my bunks.

Anyone ever consider use trex decking (composite decking) and covering that in carpet ? shouldn't have to replace the boards.....

sjp, If they are cheaper why not try them and if they don't meet your needs carpet them later?

Seems like that could work and even if they do need carpeting.. you'd still have a decent base.
