Im having lots of trouble with the back roll i have tried it about 5 to 6 times and all the times ive tried it i always stay half way of the roll and land on my head and on my back. I dont know why i cant roll fast enough. If somebody can give me some tips it would be great.

Thx

capg86, the first thing you need to focus on is committing to the trick. When people try backrolls and land on their head, they are generally coming into the trick scared. If you commit and really fpcus on continuing to look over your shoulder, you will come around. The falls aren't bad

I'm still trying to get it down to but sounds like you may be trying to throw the trick to early, Do you have any video? You have to get up and off the wake before you throw it, hope it helps.

An under-rotation to that extent is almost guaranteed because you are not keeping the handle in tight.

I have seen so many people when they are first trying to do backrolls actually letting go of the handle thinking that way it won't hurt so much when they stack it. This is rubbish!!! If you commit to the roll, as kyle, said and make sure you hold the handle in tight, I guarantee you will at least get 80% of the way round. From there it is just practice and timing.

Remember, the handle is your accelerator (I think you call it a throttle? You're ruining my language!! LOL!) and if you let go of it or let the handle away from your hip the rotation will slow down. The tighter you keep the handle in the faster you will rotate.

When you get that far round the stacks don't hurt either.

Had the same problem Friday. Tried my first 3 backrolls. All 3 times I let go of the handle with one hand and all 3 times landed flat out extended with the wind knocked out of me. My brother in law in the boat was telling me to hang onto the handle and that my rotation started out good but I could feel as soon as I let go with one hand and extended my arm with the other I just stopped. I think my problem was that I really wasn't trying to land it, just get up the courage to get upside down. So I went flat out as hard and high as I could, got way out into the flats halfway around and ate it hard. Wearing a helmet the first few times did help my confidence though.

Epic, i did the same thing you did to help me get used to going upside down. On your backroll, make sure you ride ALL THE WAY up the wake. It will give you more pop, and make it easier to finish the rotation without rushing it, and it will also look better if you can float it around. You might want to try that after you land it first, but then it is hard to take them bigger later on. I learned them throwing it too early, and i have a really difficult time waiting until the top of the wake to start flipping.
