A last season we bought a new boat and moved what I thought would be up in the world from an old 14' outboard to a 19' I/O, I was soo excited, to be moving up. However after only a few days that excitment turned to frustration. The old outboard had a ski pole and the new I/O doesnt. I found that the tricks I had been working on were no longer possible to learn. I could barely hit my kicker let alone do a flip. And a 360 always ended up with an awkward sideways landing.
Near the end of the season I got to ride behind another old outboard this time with a pole, and I stomped a 3 no problem. And then back behind my I/O I couldnt even come close.
Any suggestions or should I go back to waterskiing? |

get a pylon...or a tower...the pylon is just like a giant ski pole that sits in the middle of your boat n attaches to the front and each side...much higher tow point...n if u can convince or pay for it get a tower on top of the boat..towers do the same job but don't take up space in the boat n provide a nice spot for your board or extra speakers... _________________ Smile at the hotties on the boat...Huck ur new trick...Nail it and they'll think ur Wicked..and even if u bail they can soothe u afterwards:D...

yeah. you're just gonna have to save a little $$ and buy a tower or pole. I rode behind a boat w/ a low tow point for a long time, and my riding didn't progress at all. We got our new boat w/ a tower, and there's a huge difference.
Personally, i'd go w/ a tower rather than a pole. When you cut way out into the flats with a pole, it tends to make the boat lean a little bit that way, adn screws with your wake. A tower costs a little more, but it's definetly worth it......and they look WAAAAY more sexy. _________________ "What? When did the ballast break? Where's some fat chicks when you need them?" |

I have been riding behind a boat w/out a tower for the last 2 years, and I have gotten used to it and have progressed a great deal, however, we ordered a tower from joystick so we will see how big of a difference it makes _________________ It is better to be thought a fool, then to speak and remove all doubt. |

I ride behind my fathers SanTe with a tower, and my SeaRay without a tower. Aside from the wake, I notice very little between a tower vs the ski eye. As a matter of fact, I can throw everything on both boats. However, my tricks are more hucked on the SeaRay.
9 years or riding, and I still dont understand how you retards believe that a tower will make you ride that much better.
cndwakerider, maybe it is just the shape of the wakes that you arent used to? _________________
