Upgrading my Board and can't Demo *Bought one anyway*

Well, I am very interested in purchasing a new board either when they go on sale this year or the new 07 models of next year.

I have contemplated over the LF Substance and PS3 several times. But recently i have become very, very, very interested in the LF Fish.

I know that the fish is very different from the PS3 and Substance but I'm looking for a board that is pure fun to ride, smooth edging, and something to carve and have a good time on. As well as a board thats good for spinning because i don't think i'll progress past a tantrum or backroll in the invert category.

I'm 16, 5'8" and wiegh 130 and I am looking for as much info as possible on any of these boards and spent all day yesterday reading some reviews on www.wakeworld.com The only problem is most of the people who rate it 3 stars never say why Confused

The reason I am asking is because The only shop around is Overton's and unfortunately they don't allow customers to demo so my only option is Trinity Boardshop. If i could just narrow it down to two boards then i wouldn't mind paying the 10-15 bucks for the shipping of the boards.

Any help would be great and sorry i had to add to the number of "what board to get" posts but Im torn. Thanks

Well i have the Substance and the fish.. so hopefully i can help.

First off. I love the Fish. Its an amazing board. Its pretty agressive and keeps you locked in. The only time i get a little flusterd with it is in choppy water, like really choppy. (but who doesnt get frusturated Razz

) Its an awesome board and i have had no complaints. Many others have also told me they love to ride it. It gets massive acceleration intot he wake and for me it seems to pop higher than most boards and has super smooth landing. The part i enjoy most is cutting twards the wake. You start picking up speed real fast and it launches you.

Secondly.. The substance is also an awesome board. It was a toss up for me between the subsatnce and the fish.. I bought the fish before the substance, but never the less i still have both. The substance is more of a relaxed board. I perfer it without the fins, its a nice loose ride and edges great. The landings arent as smooth as the fish, yet i still get about the same highth with it. The fish will push you out further into the flats though, with its acceleration. (from my experiences). But not all the time.

I usually ride both when i go out. If its super glassy ill start off with the fish. Its a super nice board. Substacne is more of a relaxed rider, yet it still gives you the nice edge your looking for. - hope that helped a little bit.

oh and by the way.. im 17, 5'9-10 / 140ish... and i ride the 129(fish) adn 138(substance) .. works fine for me.

Oh also.. after getting the fish.. i enjoyed wakeboarding much more.. Seems as if you just go around screwing around and throwing more tricks.. that could also be personal tho as well. But i have a ton of fun whenever im on the fish. Cool

Thanks for the huge help, except i was hoping only to demo the PS3 and Fish but you made the substance seem awesome. Now i think i'll have to try all three this summer Laughing

_Jason_, Did you start out on the fish? What board did you come from if not? And do you prefer the fish or the substance?

Blindside_137, Actually I started on an 03 Hyperlite TFD (136) Then second board like i said earlier was a toss up between the fish and the substance. And really dont lean twards one or the other. I like both equally. Its hard to say which i would perfer more... once you ride both (or buy both..) then youll totally understand what i mean. Cool

Blindside_137, I ride the PS3 137 and I have to say it is my favorite shape so far. It's like riding the substance, but with so much more pop, and it lands like the fish. I would definitely reccomend it. I rode the substance last season and loved it, and I love the PS3 even more.

If I were you I would also try the Watson, its very light so its easy to spin. The Watson, PS3, and Substance are all pretty similar.

nickdakoolkat, i thought about it, but its aggressive and advanced style seemed to much for me. But its worth a shot. I found 2 boardshops in NC so i'll try and check out their websites to see if they demo.

I'll definately let you guys know what i end up with but it may be in a month Very Happy

Blindside_137, I've been riding my boys PS3 and it is the effin BOMB. It is the poppiest board i have ever ridden. I have an 06 murray and it takes a fat dump on it. I really reccomend the PS3. My other friend rides the Watson and the watson isnt in the same league...for me anyways
