Loading the line is just building tension on the rope.

Remember that the rope is pulling you up and toward the boat at 20 - 24 MPH. If you are not 'ON' the rope, you are throwing all this away.... think high school physics. You are left with only the little bump of the wake and whatever speed you built up on the way across the wake.

A good way to feel the tension is to go outside on your heelside and rock the boat buy coming on and off your edge. It will build your strength and make your drunk buddies ill... You should be able to build up pressure so strong that it feels like you are doing squats at the gym. Get the feel for it... then do the same thing as a HS jump from about 5' outside the wake. You will feel as you leave the wake that the boat will pull you upright (you will have your shoulders behind your feet when you crest the top of the wake). This is the release part of "load and release".

If you keep you feet under you, then you convert this energy to pop and jump high. If you really edge hard and really release, you will be pulled into a raley. Doing 1/2 of either ends badly. :)

Hope this helps!
