|

| My boat runs at about 3000 rpm's at about 22mph for the first 10-30 minutes I am at the lake. Then it goes down to about 2100 rpm's at the same speed. I am sure that the 2100 rpm's is normal, but why does it run so high for a while? It does not sound like it is actually running at 3000 rpm's whe the gauge reads it. WHat could it be? or, is there some other explanation? |

Sounds like your RPM gauge is malfunctioning, could be a problem with its connection to your engine. Boats have a direct connection between your engine and the prop, so unless your doing something to change the drag, the RPM and speed should match. Other possible reasons are there is slipping or something weird with your prop (weeds).
I think it's just your RPM gauge since you said it doesn't sound like 3000 when the guage says it is at 3000.

sounds like the tranny is having problems until it gets hot, check and or replace the fluid... _________________ "I don't understand...what is this NO WAKE zone you speak of?...and what does it mean?" |
