|
|
I recently bought a cheap little 16 foot center console boat. Its a locally mad eboat called a "High Tide". As I fish a lot and got a great deal on it, I bought it.
Anyway it has a real shallow beam and only a 70 hp outboard on it. Top speed is around 38 mph and has pretty good acceleration. I dont have much of a wake at all though.
I know this is not going to be a great boat for me to wakeboard behind, but will it be good enough for me to learn with until I can buy another?
Im assuming trimming up, filling both livewells with water and adding more weight somehow (gotta be removable and cheap, maybe 5 gallon buckets of water?) will help my wake a little |

It won't be ideal, but any boat is better than no boat. It'll probably serve your purposes for a while, but if you get really into it, then it won't last too long _________________ People should not be afraid of their governments.

My first boat was a 13' whaler with a 20 merc that did not do very well. We put a 50 merc on it and it was great for watersports (this was way before wakeboards If it has a tough time getting the rider up you could change to a lower pitch prop. It will be great to have fun with until your ready for the next boat.
Ive come to really enjoy pulling my kids with a PWC when they want to tube or wakeskate, burns a ton less fuel than a V8. _________________ Founder of Monster Tower Wakeboard Towers
