Hey, I never thought this was so technical. To me a smoother surface just seemed like a no brainer. Im the guy who waxed the bottom of his old boat and got an extra 4MPH top speed, and the acceleration was also noticably increased. The time it took to plane was decreased also after I waxed it. It was an old boat though, 1991, and had some scratches on the bottom, so those could be other variables as well.

Do any of you know an online source of Fluid Mechanical information? Id like to learn more about this.

Here's part of a something from MIT. Everything here is the same in my Fluid Dynamic's book. If you go back to the URL and do some figuring, you could read the whole boat.

With any fluid's problem you almost always figure out the Reynold's Number first. This will give you an idea about they flow on/around your object. Then you go from there....

Good call derekbell23, this sounds like to much drama for a simple question. Wax it, don't wax it, who cares. It's just a boat.
