Ideal Slider Length - Flatbar

So were building a proper quality flatbar for the local club and were just playing with dimensions now.. costs will probably be the deciding factor but its going to be about 1m off the water floating and fully enclosed with up and down ramps. Just curious as to what the ideal length would be.. I was thinking somewhere between 10 and 20m.

that would be pretty huge. (20m) 10m would be plenty. (not including up and down ramps)

i don't know exactly how long 10-20m would be, but I would go with around 30-40 ft

60 feet all the way. We have a 40 ft flat bar and a 50 ft flat bar and are always talking about making a longer one

Yea i know 60ft is pretty huge.. it would have to be in two sections that bolted together.. i was thinking somewhere in between 40-50ft.. just curious to see what people's experiences were with different length flatbars and what they thought was a good length to get a good slide.. and what was too long..

Thats seems VERY long. But I've never actaully seen a slider. Why so long?

Darin, 30 feet goes by in a second at 22mph, people need more slide time for learning tech stuff.

Yea 22mph is 9.8 metres a second so it does go by pretty quick..

Nah thats metres not feet.. so itd be more like 2.5 seconds iwth ramps... It always looks like riders are on sliders for ages in the videos because its like half-speed.. but if you ever watch like the pro tour on tv in normal speed or an actual person sliding it seems like they are only on it for a second.. we had a 3m table in the water one day and i ollied up onto one end and hardly had time to kiss it before i was off.. Razz

Ah, that makes sense. One more dumb question. Why do you like doing sliders? What do you get out of it?

Cameron - I'd say 40-50 (leaning towards 50) feet is a good length. I'm not sure how much you'd be using it, but at our camp we have floating sliders and when you get much above 40' the things torque so much and often require a lot of maintenance - which is fine if you don't mind working with them. We had an 80' two summers ago and it was sweet while it lasted, but eventually the joints got super chewed up and we ended up breaking it into two sections - both of which have lasted really well. They're also pretty fun - might be nice if they were a bit longer (I think they're just under 40 with ramps) but they do the job.

You don't want to have a slider that's so long that you have a hard time sliding the whole thing every time, but long enough to do some tech tricks on. If anybody has been to The Projects or seen a vidoe of it, the white flatbar there is a really good length. Not sure how long that is though.
