Pretty simple question, I live in Seattle, WA and am looking to purchase 3 Simer BW8512 pumps. Anybody know a good place to find one? It can be internet or an actual store.

here is an online retailer
http://pumpbiz.com/products/index.cfm?fuseaction=pump_model_detail&product_id=10842&series_id=227

I have a local retailer that sells them for quite a bit less then that... I can check to see if they have any in stock, let you know, have you paypal me and ship them too you for $80 each. I have done this for several other members of both this site and wakeworld... not much in it for me!

Simer pump BW8512. B.E. Atlas. 1-800-305-4393. Easy phone order. Quick delivery.

You don't need the kit. Just the pump.

To see mine...

gmarkham1, Can you seriously get these pumps for $80? If so I am definitely interested in getting my hands on 2. I cannot figure out why these things are so hard to find I have looked in every home improvement type store and farm supply place and can only find the 110 volt version. Don't need the scoop or anything just the pumps. Let me know, it would be hugely appreciated.

HEY GUYS...

I went to get some pumps for panhead, and found out that these pumps are now made by wayne pumps, they appear to more readily available by many more retailers and a little bit cheaper(less then $100) these look exactly the same except the housing is bronze istead of plastic!

here is a link to the manufacturer...
http://www.waynepumps.com/prodlist.asp?pcode=PC1
still willing to hook anyone up with one if needed!

Hey all,

At the time I ordered my pumps (less than 3 months ago) B.E. Atlas delivered my simers for under $70. See my post above for their contact info.

fyi...there is a kit that will push you above the $75 mark, but I just ordered the pumps b/c the kit wasn't useful for my applications.

either option you choose no skin off my back, i am not making any money off helping you guys out just an option! also this is for the whole kit, not needed but does include and extra impeller kit... so good luck,

and on a side note I am going to test the reversabilty of these wayne pumps before shipping but these seem to be the exact same pumps from appearance!

gmarkham1,
Sorry...wasn't implying anything by dropping B.E. name.
You bring up a good point, I believe the kit does include an extra impeller. I've heard that's ~ $10 item alone, so maybe it's not such a bad deal. You just might have some other stuff you won't use.

no prob... definately an advantage ordering directly from a dealer if/when possible, and I have no experience with these wayne pumps, but from the 110vac pump it does a look a little more heavy duty just from the parts... I have seen one of the plastic impeller housings melt right through...

One thing I noticed in comparing the Wayne and the Simer, the specs for the Wayne say it has a Max flow fo 310GPH and the simer is 600GPH. Kind of strange how the motor is the same in both and spins the same rpm. Only thing I can thing of os different size impellor.

I called B.E. Atlas today and ordered the Simer pumps $74.95 + S/H. I liked the Bronze pump head on the Wayne pump but the specs stating half the maxflow volume on the Wayne made the decision to go Simer easy.

gmarkham1, P hat in Cincy, Thanks very much for the all of the help guys.

Was that $74.95 for the kit with extra impeller and other stuff?

Congrats on the purchase and good luck on the install.

Girl on the phone said it was the kit and that was all they had. Picked up the switches at Boat US this afternoon. $8.99 ea. Just need the weather to warm up a bit and get the boat out of storage.

Are the simmers pumps "postive displacement" whatever that means (I have heard people refer to the Jabsco pumps as positvie displacement and therefore you didn't need to put in vents or burp your sacs.

I am not to sure about the positive displacement, I do know these pumps will burst a fat sac if you do not keep your eye on them, so a vent line is a good idea for that reason alone. In my install you cannot see the sacs so the vent line allows me to see when they are full.

I am actually curious about how I put the recommended teaspoon of cooking oil in before each use???

I used 4 of them for a whole year and never put in the oil, but I suppose you would just detach one of the hoses from your pump and dump it in there.

The jabsco pumps will also burst your sacs without a vent line, I beleive there are stories of broken stringers and such from not having a vent line!

Has anyone found a cheap replacement impeller for the BW85?

I've found 'the kit' for $17 http://www.abtecparts.com/commerce/search/products/?product_id=03XSIa270&merchant_id=1933

I've heard the impeller can be found for about $6.

thanks.

I got my replacement impellar from BE. It was ~$10 shipped.

I have three Simers, work great. Going on the third season now. The pump that feeds the front sac just doesn't do it well anymore, so I am putting in a new one to see if that fixes it. The pipes and bags seem fine.

I have four simer pumps for sale.....like new, still in box, with the extra impeller.

Long story short I sold the boat I had the setup in, and no longer need them.

These are 12v reversable 600 gph simer pumps, same model Gmarkham got (in fact, he got me mine last year).

They are taking up space, so 175 shipped in the continental U.S takes all four!
