I'm partial to the Liquid Force Diva. It's nice and forgiving like all beginner boards but offers more room to advance before needing to upgrade. Plus it's sparkly so girls dig it. http://209.61.143.148/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=Liquid+Force+Diva+134+Pkg

My wife rides a Hyperlite Eden & loves it. I beleive it's designed like the Hyperlite State which has a different fin design on the toeside edge, making it easier/more stable edging toeside.
She just started riding last summer & is progressing well on it.

The Diva is a great beginner/intermediate board- its VERY forgiving but still holds its edge well.

I am looking to sell a 128 for cheap if you are interested.

Here are the specs:

Liquid Force Diva 128

I just started last summer and i'm riding the Obrien Vixen 138 and loving it. It is really easy to ride...considering i started on the Parks! I also demo'd the Motive 134 and really liked it, but we got the vixen for a better deal. I beleive the Motive is the same as the Diva that has already been recommended but with girly grafics. I would recommend that!!! I also recommend not cheaping out on the bindings...there is nothing worse than getting a super cheap pair starting out and hating them! (go with LF!!)

BTW i'm the the same height and size as your GF!

Check the GB lexys out.

Thats what my Girlfriend learned on.

Girls love the graphics.

It also is very stable and forgiving.

Goodness, looks and performance!

hey- i'm 5'7" 140 lb. and I ride a LF Diva 134 and LOVE it. I learned on a Hyperlite something or another (WAY OLD BOARD) 141 and it blew- i could barely get up. Since then i've ridden a HL Temet 138 (hubby's board) and it's been good but my diva is SWEET and i haven't even wanted to try out the old HL. My board is VERY forgiving and it sticks to the water well- It's good to try lots of different boards if you can- i don't think there's one particular good board for EVERYONE. I've definately advanced with my diva- in one summer i went from not being able to get up to being able to jump wakes and switch sides- I don't know if that's a fast advancement or not but it helps to have a good board-rider match. good luck! Very Happy [/i]

The motive is HL and the Diva is LF. The guys's equivalent of the Diva (same board with different graphics) is the Evo and the girls equivalent of the motive is the Divine i believe
