A new Tahoe Q4 inboard, or a 9-year old Malibu response?
Which one should we buy?
Both will def. be better than our currently 40-year old Jeanneau Vulcan
(obviously, it's for wakeboarding) |

| The tahoe will have an inboard outboard motor, which will really effect the wake, and most inboard outboards also have less power. Whats your price range here? |

What are the details on both boats hours hours power condition etc.
Any brand inboard or V drive will be better for wakeboarding than a I/O
IMHO. Better to drive, holds speed better, handles extra weight for a larger wake better.... Seems to me like an odd choice? No other boats available in your area???? |

1. i don't know a lot about boats, but you guys already knew that i guess
2. I/O is Inboard/Outboard I'm guessing? I'm a bit confused here. The Tahoe is an I/O right?
3. I'm from Belgium, there aren't many second-hand, affordable, ski/wake-boats for sale here...
4. The Malibu Response doesn't have an open bow unfortunatly. It has a Mercruyser Magnum Skier 350 V8 5.7L (260HP) and costs 17000 Euros.
5. The Tahoe Q4 is new, and is about 20.500 Euros I believe. I know both boats are very different, but we don't really have a clue.
So if I understand everything here, we should def. look for a model like the Malibu Response or a MasterCraft ProStar etc...? And forget about a Tahoe or something alike?
Thanks for any help... |

We have two malibus...an old '97 Tantrum (closed bow)...and an 05 Vride. Both are good boats. You'd be able to turn the response into a much more wakeboard specific boat than any I/O (inboard outboard, you're right). In college we rode behind a response with a extended pylon and fat sac in the back and it produced a nice wake. Stick with full inboards . But that's just me. I used to ride the old outboard fishing boats and that's just horrible (but works). _________________ You stand on the shore and look out over the horizon.

I faced a similar decision when buying a boat - get a 2000 Bayliner (20', 5.0 V8 I/O, open bow, tower, nice condition), or a 1991 Ski Supreme (21', 5.7 V8 Inboard, open bow, extended skylon, decent condition).
The Bayliner had more storage, was newer, a lot nicer, less hours, etc. etc. etc.
I've never regretted for ONE SECOND buying the older Ski Supreme! Better wake, better potential, and I'm not automatically considered a Wally every time I go out. Yeah, the interior has a couple tears...but it's a real wakeboard boat. Also, resale is much better on inboards than it is on I/O's.
It's your boat, and your decision, but I will never advise a hardcore wakeboarder to buy any I/O if they can afford even the most basic "real" inboard. |
