| I have a problem at lots of moorings with my old ski boat - the gunnels are so low that at most non ski friendly moorings - ie riverside pubs! - my boat tries to go beneath the mooring. If left like this for several pints, any wake from passing craft would cause tremendous damage. Any ideas for mooring gadgets? thanks steve |

There are a couple of things I have seen.
I use a really big fender, much bigger than you would expect to see on a ski boat. I tie mine to my pylon in the middle of the boat and throw it over the side so half is above the gunnel, half below. Then keep the boat tight against the dock so the fender takes the load.
If it's much higher than the gunnel, are there no support pylons on the dock to keep the boat from going under? If not, this is a bad dock, and I wouldn't park there. But that's me.
I have also seen a guy run some rope through two 8 ft pieces of steel tubing he hid in his boat. With a carribeaner at one end he would clip it to the boat and then tie to the dock. This helps keep the boat away, but you have to use spring lines or the boat will go back and forth. |

I do that too.
Can you use 4 spring lines to try to keep the boat in the middle of the slip, not against one side? Won't work at a dock without a slip, though.
