Just wondering how everyone weights their Ski Nautique 2001. I threw a fatboy in the rear but i am not that crazy about the wake it throws. Also, where does everyone put their passangers; front, back, midship? Thanks for the help.

I put 2 fat sacks in the back (one on each side of the engine cover & as far back as possible) + about 300lbs of lead in the bow. As for people in the boat, we usually have at least 3 so they are all toward the front to help give bow weight which helps the boat get on plane faster. If there's 4-6 people, I usually put the extra 2 people in the middle (one on each side of the engine cover).
I rarely go with more then 6 people but if I do, I usually only use 1 fat sack in the back and adjust the people where ever they need to be so the wake is balanced. The people I ride with really don't care where they sit, because they are just happy that they are going to get to ride Very Happy

I was gonna say weight it enough so it sinks, collect the insurance, then buy a new boat. But that wouldn't be very nice. Actually, I saw a thread on here where a guy makes custom sacs. Might not be a bad idea. Put 'em where you can't see 'em. I am amazed at how much weight you guys put in your boats. What kind of fuel burn do you get? I go with factory ballast only. With a few buds, the wake is killer.

i put two full size sacks on the sides of the engine and usually have three people in the front.

RanMan are you familiar with Nautique 2001 hulls? There is no way i can 'hide' 1000#s of water in my boat.

Ranman, who cares about the fuel!!! Its called wakeboarding not "worryabouthowmuchfuelyourburning". Just as Seth stated, there is not way to hide the weight in the 2001 models!!! Stock ballast isn't enough in any boat that is made.

Yo funk,
Don't calabria and MB offer 2k of factory ballast? OK, I get what you're sayin' about the 2001 models. No room for ballast. Maybe time for a new boat? Cool

Thats my point exactly, those boats are big,2k is nothing for that big of a boat!! You would have to throw like 3-3500 in those to produce a nice wake, anything less = still to rampy!!! I really dont ride with anymore than 3 people there for I really dont need a bigger boat. If I want more people,we bust out the party barge!!!

Hey Funk, I've got two side sacs (@750 lbs.) and a few fat friends. Is that going to make a significant difference in the wake, from no added weight, or should I invest in another sac for the rear? And if I do get the rear sac will I need something for the bow to keep it down? I certainly don't need world class wakes to do my short list of inverts and spins, but want it as good as I can get it.

Chris, you are set bro!! You will notice a big differance in your wake shape. You should really get some weight up front under the bow,but you can get away with some big friends up in the front seats!!! Just play around with where you put the wieght on the floor until you like the wake. Remember, everybody likes there wake set up different so just play around with it alittle!!! Hope this helps.
