using something else than plywood?

I will be building a 60 foot rail this spring. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what I could put to close the structure instead of plywood? Anything cheaper that still solid?

Does the material have to suppost anything like the weight of a fallen rider or is it just to close it on the sides where it won't have to support anything?

It will have to support the rider if he falls, the sides are on an angle so I guess it has to be pretty solid.

I put five lengths of strapping, which acted as ribs, along the frame and then I put on the thinnest and cheapest plywoo that i could find, I'm pretty sure that I used 3/8 plywood. It works great and is super strong. We've run into, jumbed on it, and crashed into it and we have neevr had a problem. Hope this helps
