Hey im building and floating kicker and i was thinking that instead of using marine timber or anything ultra expensive i might just put a layer of fibreglass over all my wood.
depending on how long you plan on that thing actually staying useable id use reg wood. We had 2 6' kickers and got bored with them real quick and drug the kickers towards the shore and let them sink. The wood outlasted us by far and it was regular lumber. If you want long-lasting just get treated wood for sure...dont bother with the extra time of doing it yourself. _________________ Everything in Between is what matters the most...
another quick idea we did use....only part of the kicker is gonna be submerged so use treated lumber on the bottom framing. The rest that is out of the water is fine with plain lumber because there isnt enough water effecting it to rot. It will save you a good chunk of change _________________ Everything in Between is what matters the most...

I've actually heard good things about that pressure treated wood for sliders. It's not too expensive either... JUst the stuff for fences. _________________
