I am about to buy an 01 X-30 and the teak looks kinda bad. Is there a certain type of stain or varnish type that I need to use? And what would bring out the most color? Also how much does a fiberglass one cost?

There's a finishing kit that you can buy, but I don't remember what it's called.

I sand mine once per season and use teak oil about once per week.

I don't know how much a fiberglass deck is.

With the teak on our Chris-Craft we have to use a chemical to clean the old teak oil off. It soaks in and you have to scrub on it for a little bit. But the cleaning oil can stain fiberglass so you have to take care and do a little at a time, while rinsing with a hose.

Then once it airs out and dries. It will look like virgin wood, very clean. Then you can apply the teak oil which will darken it and protect it.

I like wood platforms on the older boats, but unless you want to deal with it you can go ahead and get a fiberglass one. But they are $$$$. I would imagine a couple hundred bucks. Call MC and find out.

I do the same thing. Applying teak oil takes around 5 minutes a week, and it makes the wood look brand new. It's quite a dramatic change. And I like doing it every monday night after the wood has dried out from the weekend.

You can use a pressure washer to clean the wood if its is dirty, this can tear up the grain a little so hit it with some sand paper before using teak oil.

Do NOT use varnish, it will crack off and look terrible. Teak is to oily for varnish to really stand the test of time.

well....the boat will be docked in the water all summer. And the lake is too far to go get my trailer once a week or whatever and pull it out.

Look into Teakqua.

I hear that's a really good and natural looking Teak sealer. don't use regular marine varnish. I think it looks crappy and will be slippery.
