Is there a way to convert my fixed pylon to a pop up that I have seen on a few models. I would be nice if there wasn't a 7" tall knob poking out the sun deck.

I am there with yah. I have a 2000 vlx with a pylon sticking 12 inches out. I called malibu and they said no go for me. So I guess its getting cut off and made into a boot lube holder.

You could just unbolt it if you don't use it.

Most people I know who have a v-drive remove the pylon and plug the hole with a PVC endcap. They fit perfectly (I think it's the 4" endcap, but I'm not sure.)

Liquidmx: Don't cut if off!!!!! Just remove it.

[pervert on] Just use it as a tester for chicks who are allowed on your boat. If they can handle it, kick'em off!!! [pervert off]

ha ha ha sorry. Or you can just unbolt it if you don't use it.

What company makes the OEM ones that pop-up? Seems like there is a market for an aftermarket one. Unless someone went and patented one?

There are no OEM popup pylons that I know of. I assume you have a tower. What do you want to do off the pylon that you can't do off the tower?

Swass, Bu makes one IIRC.

Just unbolt it. Don't let your friends put their beer there.

You'd know better than I would. I've never seen a popup pylon, let alone an OEM one. Is it an option on the VLX or something?

I would un bolt the thing but it is welded into the cross brace for some stupid @ss reason. So I am going to gut it off a few inches below the v-drive cover so I dont mess with the integrity of the cross brace.
