Finally, last but not least, Centurion displays it's new website. Looks good, not to complicated, but again, as with most other newly released boat websites, no configurator yet. Anyways, what do you guys think about that new Evolution tower. I think it's pretty trick lookin, especially on that black Avalanche. Those Air-warrior color schemes and decals are a huge improvement over years before. I hope Centurion has another hugely successfull year, and theirs no reason to think they won't, too much quality, and competitive pricing only equals one thing.

If you're serious about that, why? I would sure like to know why someone who owns a legendary hull in that Malibu you have would make the switch. Just curious!

Are you serious? If you are:

The centurions I've seen were priced more in my comfort level, for one.

Secondly, they had more of a Vhull, and our lake does get choppy sometimes, and when it does you can't even think about taking the 'bu out.

Also, the centurions I've seen at boat shows looked very solid, I liked the way the seats were molded into the deck, instead of screwed in like on my malibu. I liked the reinforcement of the integrated cooler in the walkthrough to the bow, I thought the hulls were more beefy, I thought the fit and finish was very nice. I'm impressed by the sideswipe exhaust concept too.

I've never ridden behind one, and hopefully I will before buying one, but I can't imagine that the wake is not up to par.

Everything you noticed is very true. The ride is great and the boat is as solid as they come. The Avalanche is my favorite. Not saying the Malibu is a bad boat at all but after riding in the Avalanche that was all it took.

I'm looking forward to checking out some of the centurions when the weather gets nicer. Saw a 2006 avalanche at the local boat show, and it looked very nice.

RE: their website. I'm pretty disapointed that there are so many sections missing. It's almost the end of january, at least have a photo album...

Cameraboy, thanks for the reply. After I read my second post, I realized it came across sounding smart-ass. But no, I was very serious. Any way, yeah that was the first thing I noticed in my choppy lake was how well my Avalanche cut through without budging and no noise. You should check out that new switchblade, they say it produces pro size wakes with only the 3 tank ballast (about 700lbs). But they (Waterski-mag) say it doesnt handle as well when its engaged I guess. The wake is still pretty awesome for me with just the triple ballast.

We have a centurion, the second one for my husbands family.
We love it. We did the DD boat solely for the ease of working on it. The fit, form and function is very solid. My husbands only complaint is the placement of the cup holders....... Rolling Eyes



The fact that we have money left over for gas is a huge bonus over a Nautique or Mastercraft.

I always kind of chuckle when a boat review says that the boat doesn't handle as well with the ballast full and wedge deployed or whatever other wake-making gizmo the boat has. OF COURSE it's not going to handle as well! But when you have your ballast full and wedge down or whatever, you're pretty much just driving straight and making a single turn, then driving straight again. I mean, who's trying to run an obstacle course with 3 tanks full of ballast? Sheesh.....

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I wonder if they mean that the boat likes to wander from side to side when you're driving straight with the switchblade deployed. Anyway, I recently attended our annual boat show here in Reno and had a chance to check out that new Evolution tower on an Enzo. I have to say it is awesome, especially with the speakers, kind of setup like a Malibu Illusion's. I also liked the new swim platforms, (very big!)

I don't think the Centurion site looks that bad actually. Either do the newer Centurions. It looks like they got a lot right, with regard to the site - although I am not a fan of the stark white on stark black background.

But -just a little thing I just noticed. The Centurions all sound like they were named by a 7 year old boy. Say these names with a little bit of a lisp and in your best 7 year old voice: and say it with enthusiasm:

AIR WARRIOR!!
AVALANCHE!!
TYPHOON!!
AIR WARRIOR ELITE!!!!
OMG!!!1

They just need a "ROGUE NINJA" an "RADICAL 3000" and a "L33T COMMANDER" to round out the fleet. Is the wake-enhancement device on Centurions really called the Switchblade?

And back onto topic - I am not sure the discussion of handling with regard to a 4000lb wake boat weighted with 1000-2000lbs more of ballast is worth having. I liken my 210 to handling like a fat old SUV on the water, where as my Ski Nautique was like a nimble MG, unweighted.

None of these boats will handle well when weighted and in all honesty - does it matter? Like Cameraboy said.

Erik, I think you might be right, my 5 and 9 year old boys love the name Avalanche of our boat. Maybe that's why I bought a Centurion, j/k. Honestly though, i'm glad that the Avalanche logo is a small transparent bubble-type sticker, kind of inconspicuous!

I got to drive an avalanche with the switchblade and I was totally impressed!! I though the boat handled normally untill you pull up to the dock. Then It could get tricky for a less than experienced driver. Once you know what to expect it becomes second nature. With a little practice I could back the boat up in either direction. I can't wait to get one on my next boat. I am thinking about the new Typhoon but I am waiting to get to drive one.

Can it be installed on my boat, or do I have to buy new? The reason I ask is because the ballast intake ports on my Avalanche are located right where I think that switchblade would be. Also, doesn't it hinge up an down so that its out of the way when you're not using it?

The Switch Blade cannot be raised up when you're not using it. It only has a 12 degree up/down motion to switch between wake/slolom/neutral positioning.

....all I know is there has been a ton of interest in the Switch Balde at the Nor-Cal boatshow, but only one person has actually bought it on thier Enzo so far. We are getting a ton of response on the Evolution tower as well.

If I had a dollar for every time i've been asked if you could buy that tower to fit an older boat, i'd be rich.

I am very impressed that things like wind dam, pull-up cleats, trim tabs, and wakeplate are all standard.

Who the hell buys a boat with no cleats? Why is that even considered an option?
