|
|
My boat has an old school "system" in it that I plan on redo-ing, on a budget, before this summer.
Picked up a couple used, but nice, MTX amps yesterday - a 6500D and an 8302. I plan on putting 4 6.5" speakers in home brew cans on a tower eventually powered by the 8302 (unsure of speaker brand yet, still researching) and a single 12" or 15" DVC sub powered by the 6500D. I currently have 2 old school Kicker comp 8's powered by an ancient Sony amp for my bass. I'm looking for an MTX 6304 to power 4-6 in-cabin 6.5's as well.
I plan on building a custom box for the new single sub in the driver's footwell - there's plenty of room. What should I go with to best match this amp? Price is a concern - don't want to spend more than about $150 on the sub.
Should I do down-firing? Ported or Sealed? I typically prefer the sound of sealed, but on a boat...I just want it to get loud, cheap (ok, ok...it still has to sound pretty decent!).
Amp specs for those that don't know:

Basically, 500W RMS X 1 w/ a 2ohm load, which I plan on accomplishing with a DVC sub.
Any input appreciated! |

I've found Elemental's subs to be very good for the $$. Check out the 13kv2 or 16kv2. 3-yr warranty also. I have a 13kv2 in my car and I've been pleasantly surprised by both the output and SQ.
