|
|
Ok, I need some help here... inventors start thinkin!
Anyone ever transport a board on the back of a bike?
I moved to Sydney a while back and have only recently gotten myself a set of wheels... I picked up a 250cc motorcycle...
It is summer down here and in order for me to get anywhere to ride I gotta take my bike...
The other problem is I have a giant Funded Technologies board... so i am not sure it i can put it on the back like a spoiler... anyone know the Johnny Law rules on that?
I have seen surfers with a rack for surf boards on the back of beach cruisers, so that is design idea #1... just modified for a motorcycle
Idea # 2 involves tossing the bindings in a backpack and then making some sorta rack where you attach the board to it by screwing the board down with binding screws into the inserts of the board.
I'm more of curious if anyone has ever done it before.. pics are definitely appreciated!

There was discussion about this a good bit ago.
The best idea I remember was somehow rigging the board to sit flush on one side of the bike, kind of like another fairing (bindings go on the pillion seat / backpack).
What kind of bike did you get? I know there's a lot of gray market bikes over there.

I got mine perfectly legal from a dealer... he brought it in from Japan and fixed it all up... after a custom paint job the thing looks brand new...
If I hadn't seen the customs documentation I would be a bit curious after your comment...

That's considered gray market. It's totally legal, but sometimes can be harder to get support and parts for.
On the other hand, you can get some really unique bikes, like the Baby Blade (CBR400R) and NC30.

I like the plastic trailer idea. It would only need to have one single wheel touching the ground, allowing you to lean and all you want. You could possibly modify a golf bag carry case to put a small frame and wheel on one end, and some rigging to attach to bike on the other.

I am going to try strapping it down this weekend to the back seat bindings down...
All the roads out here are pretty low Speed Limits... It is rare to find a road with a speed limit faster than 80 Kmph... which is like just over 50mph
My bike is pretty small so who knows... but the board is SO big... a 143
I almost 100% I will get pulled over tho...

Simple simple simple... I just got back from the northshore of Oahu Hawaii... everyone on a scooter or pedal bike had a board rack installed...
