OK, youngsters...we're talkin' 80s here, not 90s!

Anyone born after 1970 doesn't get to play.

Ahhh...youngsters....parachute pants weren't really baggy, and came WAY before Hammer...like 10 years - I had a pair in 6th grade, so around...1983! Hammer was still a bat boy with the A's then! They were made of thin nylon (plastic) and had about 9 zippered pockets all over them. The wrost thing about them was they would melt under friction - especially from things like breakdancing, and it burned like hell!

Swass - How true! This turned into a '90's thread real quick.

How can people for get about Jams? OP, pacific sunwear, Hobie, those were sooo cool. Also if you were a skater you remember Vision Skate Wear and Skate Rags. The bike shorts under your jean shorts were cool for about 3 weeks. We called it "tight rolling", instead of pegging. I think the long boardshorts now are reminicent of Jams. Kind of an omage to them if you will.

Yeah, boardshorts are a total spinoff of jams. I was into jams back then & I'm into boardshorts now.

B-rad, I had that Tony Hawk skater hairdo, the wave that hangs in front of your face, through most of the 90's. Not my proudest moment. Embarassed

I was with you on the hair cut, straight out of "Gleaming the Cube". What about the rat tail, I had one of those for awhile as well when I was growing up.

I had two pairs of parachute pants! The girls liked us to wear them super tight. I would pass out from lack of air if I tried that today. Not to mention the fact that nobody would want to see a 34 year old guy wearing those. Shocked
In the early 80s, we all wore the white canvas Nike shoes with the new "Swoosh" design on the side. Later, we wore the Reebok hightops with the top few rows unlaced and also tightrolled our pants. (what you guys call 'pegging') Laughing Mr. Green

swass the reason it turned into a 90's thread is cuz most of the things on that list are from the early 90's, so techniqly we arnt turning it into a 90's post, thats wha it is, just some of its 80's also, its a mix of 80's and 90's, so some of us youngsters and can still relate to some of it, but i still have no idea what parechute pants are, lol

I don't know, I was born in the 70's (boy i feel old right now Sad ) grew up in the 80's, and I think the list reflect stuff mostly from the 80's. Some if it is late 80's but I don't think there is much of the 90's represented there.

And yes I had parchute pants, and a rat tail, never pegged or tightrolled my pant though.

Let it go? I set the arbitrary cutoff, and I expect it to be obeyed.

OK, if you graduated from HS in the 80s, you can play.

Aubs, everything you mentioned was from the 90s, so you, young lady, are out. Sorry, but I have spoken. Don't go away mad - just go away.

Hmmm...you made two erroneous assumptions: First, you assumed I was serious; and second, that I really care.

Swass- I didn't even notice until you pointed it out. I'm not sure if it was a typing error or I wasn't thinking.
