As you all know lake property has gone up radidly in the last year .
My parents are getting a divorce . Im staying with my dad . My mom has spent money like crazy in the last year . Infact she took out 12,000 $ out of our savings account , that was probably my college money .
Im very scared that im not going to be able to live on the lake anymore , that means no more wakeboarding . here are the conditions

1. mom keeps house - we dont get to stay on the lake
2. They sell house, split money - we get to stay on the lake
3. Keep house - stay on lake

My mom has done lots of bad things in the past year - cheating on my dad and she is verbaly abusive. we have proof . so I think we have a good chance of keeping the house . But im am still very very scared of not living on the lake , wakeboarding is my life . I could go into further detail about the whole situation but im shure nobody wants to hear about my personal life . Its just really starting to scare me , considering I have been so anxious for summer .
does anybody around here wakeboard that doesnt live on the lake or have a weekend house ?
I would find other people to ride with , but I dont wanna be in the way .
Crying or Very sad

Obviously you have bigger concerns than wakeboarding...sorry for what you're going through. Be sure to keep talking with your friends and your dad about what's going on and let someone know if you are really having a tough time. Lots of support available.

I'm no lawyer, but if you're staying with your dad it seems like he would be the one to keep the house. 99.99999% of the population doesn't live on a lake; you'll be fine even if you move. Good luck.

i would have to guess that the majority of wakeboarders don't own property on a lake. if you want to ride youll find a way.

Billabongwakechik,
We have talked on aim and stuff, and its not like your going to die if you don't live on a lake. Sorry, but you have had a great opportunity all this time, the only difference now will be that you'll need to take the boat to the lake and launch it everytime you ride.

Just be glad you will still have the boat.

I think you should look at the wakeboard side of it as an opportunity. What am I talkin about? Well a ton of my friends I have met in the process of bummin' rides off random people either in person or on this site or wakeworld. Heck, my roommate/best friend & I met because he has a boat & I needed a ride. I have met some good riders(recent Alliance cover Daniel Doud) and some people who I was able to provide valuable pointers. Also when you ride with new people it's all about progression, other people that are better than you get you stoked to ride & push you! Plus no one will think you are in the way, its the lake! We are all friends when its wakeboard time.

On life, take care of your little bro. This will be hard for him. Sorry your mom kinda lost it. Your a grown woman, maybe she will listen if you tell her to straighten her crap out. Hopefully you are heading to a sick wakeboard college, maybe Florida or... Get good grades & wakeboard will come to you whenever you want. Good luck!!

Billabongwakechik,
Things sound pretty rough, keep your head up. I'm sure it seems like its the worse thing ever, but lets face it, you could think of 50 things that could happen in your life that could be worse. It sucks when people are so selfish that she would put your family in this situation. I'm married with kids and I would never do anything to jepardize that. As far as wakeboarding goes, I'm sure that will work itself out. I agree with stephan, Take care of the people close to you especially your little brother. If you were close to louisville, my family would be happy to take you boarding and I know a lot of boat owners on my lake that feel the same way.

That sucks about your situation but consider yourself lucky. My parents are going through the divorce process. My mom lives at our full time house and my dad at our lake house. My dad needs to find a new assignment to keep his job which means he may be moving to A. NY B. The netherlands or C. London. Any of those means I wont get to wakeboard....at all.

I understan why you are so woried about the wakeboarding situation. With all the crap goring on with you parents, wakeboarding is your probably your favorit, and actualy the most mentaly best way to get away from everything. I'm grown and maried and live an hour away from my parents who have been maried 40 years and they are getting a divorce. They drive me nuts with all their crap and I am sure yours is 20 times worse.
Do not loose site of your goals and keep boarding even if you do have to bumm a ride, think of it a therapy.

Billabongwakechik, i also talked to you on aim a few times,i know how you feel.my parents got a divorce when i was 11...we lived on a lake right on the border of texas/oklahoma called lake texoma.after the divorce we had to sell the house and the boat and move to the dallas area, which is complete opposite of living on a lake,(i hate it), then my mom screwed my dad over with child support until im 18 and my dad has been struggling to pay for that and still live a good life, but he finally got things together and we just got our new boat,im so excited and cant wait until the summer gets here only 1 1/2 months. i go back and forth to my moms and dads during the week, so luckily i get to see both of them.sorry to hear about you and your situation, i know how you feel completely

Billabongwakechik,

Sorry to hear about your situation.

Check this, I grew up on the water. Well situations arose and I lost my access. So, one year I decided thats it, I am riding again. Now mind you, wakeboarding did not exist when I was one the water

So, I went out, went to a shop, dude hooked me with wb.com. Find a pull section.

Not only have I started riding again. I met a new group of friends to compliment my existing crew. But my wb friends have turned into VERY close and dear bro's over the years.

So, sometimes when a bad situations arises, its up to you to change it and make it better. If I still had access, I would not have met these cats.

Dont be fooled. Siht sucked for a long time. But it always gets better.

Mr. Green
